So, I'm going to the airport to pick up my husband. I go to the "arrivals" part, and there's this 20 minute side-of-the-road parking permitted, with the parking meters and everything.
I got lucky. Just as I drove forward, someone a bit ahead of me got in his car, turned it on, and started to leave. I thought it somewhat odd that he didn't leave immediately, but I figured maybe he was looking for something in his car, or somesuch. Anyway, he finally leaves. I happily pull in right behind him into the parking spot.
I park, and notice out of the corner of my eye a guy AHEAD of us REVERSES right beside me. I didn't pay him any attention and found the money I was looking for for the parking meter.
I get out, and realize the guy who reversed is still there. He got out of his car and started screaming at me.
Apparently, I was Supposed to have realized that he was waiting IN FRONT of the parking area to REVERSE in this high traffic lane (illegally) into this parking lot, and I should have realized he was "waiting" for it.
I said, "I'm sorry, sir, I never anticipate or go out of my way to help anyone do anything illegal. There was no reason for me to expect you to illegally try to park in this location that I was legally allowed to park in." I kept stressing the "legal" words.
He continues to yell, and the parking security comes up. He's immediatlly "informed" by the SC what the situation is, security asks me, "Are you trying to leave or waiting for someone to arrive?" I say, "Waiting for my husband to arrive, it'll only be a few minutes." He turns to SC and tells him I'm good.
SC screams even more, and I clarify to the officer what happened (while SC continues to scream profanities and such). After a few failed attempts to explain I was in the right of way, Security gives up and says, "You have 2 choices, sir. You can either leave now, or receive a $100 fine for reversing your car in this zone."
SC starts to argue, Security pulls out his pad and gets ready to write. SC jumps in car and darts away.
It's nice when that happens
He was a fruit, though. Judging by the look he shot me, I swear he'd have pulled a gun on me if it weren't a public place. *shudders*
