i agree with that; these morons don't belong in class, but rather need to develop better social interaction skills before hand, instead of wasting everyone's time with their 'presence.'

the best class is interesting, has application and best of all:

    is idiot free.
    look! it's ghengis khan!

I prefer when these "students" don't show up to class.
If you listen closely on the second day of class you can always spot these "students." There the ones who say "this is fuckin' bullshit" under their breath every time the teacher says something.

I did that when I was still taking English and Education Studies - to the latter one. No interest whatsoever.

So I did the smart thing and swapped to Creative Writing instead. Muuuuch better.

I dunno, can you Yanks swap classes in the first two weeks if you are really hating the subject?

I don't know about transferring in, but there's a time limit on when you can drop and not get a bad mark for it.

Nekojin & I actually stopped attending an art class due to a long string of being sick and some depression, and the totally cool teacher marked us for a drop, so it wouldn't go against us.

I have to confess to being one of those with my idiot computer class this semester. It really is at the level of "this is a keyboard and this is the monitor". I would have just challenged it, but since it's based on Office 2007, I would have been screwed. I don't use that, I don't even use Office 2003. For my word processor, I use WordPerfect Office 12. And I have a copy of Open Office. Not to mention that when I was the editor of a newletter (quarterly, 350+ circulation) for three years, I did all of the master copy on my computer. I just don't need the stinkin' class! In my defense though, I just go to class, do the homework, turn it in, and leave. I'm not disruptive, I just don't listen to her.

Now, there are some people in the class that do need it. Why CNM doesn't make it a part of the AccuPlacer exam, I don't know.

I'll admit, I was one of those class-skippers for certain parts of my University experience. Only one semester did it have a major detrimental effect on me, and I didn't go whine to the professor about it. (Much. Part of it was due to conflicting on-campus work schedule that was completely screwing with my sleep and emotional state. But that's a tangental story.)

Most of the time, I just doodled or wrote stories in the boring classes, or passed notes/roleplayed in a notebook with my roommate if she was in the same class. One or two of the ones we skipped were required, but the teacher was a major pain. Ugh.

However, skipping something like the stenographer class? Oi.

I only had a few classes in college that I hated. One, was because the professor was a freaking moron. Seriously--she was resigning at the end of the semester and basically didn't care. At least I got straight A's in that one--mainly because her tests were a joke (you'd get at least a 90% if your name was on the paper), but still. Otherwise, it was a complete waste of my time.

Another, was an auditing class. I'd worked in the audit department at a local bank...so I was bored. Seriously--I'd already picked up most of the material in "the real world" so when test time came around, it wasn't much of a challenge. Annoying, since I had to sit through a 3-hour lecture twice a week

The last one had to be my biology class. Exactly, *why* did I need to take that as an *accounting* major? Another waste of time. It was interesting at times, but pretty boring otherwise. Sorry, but spending well over a month covering the same plants is rather much

The only class I nearly skipped was the "computers in business" one. That was a total joke. First day went something like "This is Lotus" and then went on about spreadsheets. At least I got a chance to get out of it. The professor said that because I did so well, I didn't have to show up, except for the tests. Of course I didn't do that--I showed up anyway, and spent my time playing Doom. Quite a few people did that, mainly because we thought we just *might* pick up something.

There are so many classes I wish I had asked if I could test out of. History for example. He would hand out notes that the test would be on, then spend all class talking about his family. So I would read the textbook.

Oh, such good times in college. I'm taking a politics of diversity class right now. It has 35 people in it. On average, about 20 show up on Mondays or Wednesdays, less if it's Friday. And about half the class just sits there, texting away. Some people leave their cell phones on their desks, not even trying to hide it. What a slap in the face to my professor.

I'm taking mostly advanced chemistry courses. If I skip even one class, that's a lot of notes to catch up on. And we still have people who regularly skip class. I honestly don't know how these people expect to pass. 1/4 of my grade in Analytical Chemistry is doing definitions for each chapter and handing them in. Seems like babying, but it saves a lot of time for my teacher so she doesn't have to lecture us on the words being used. Yet people don't do them. So, you are now starting out with a 75%, in argueably one of the hardest classes you will be taking as a chem major. Good luck with that one...

And don't even get me started on those freaking morons who are drunk EVERY SINGLE NIGHT(I kid you not, I heard some girl last Monday night saying, "Why am I the only sober person? It's not fair!" Uh...yea...) and complain about how hard their intro classes are...

For the same reason they pried me out of my bio classes and required me to take a Business course, in the Business School.

"Well, I don't think I'm even getting a lot of benefit from this class. It's just a lot of theory, it's not going to do me any good as a manager."
You know, to a degree, I would normally empathize with him. Here's the problem, though...he's taking a class that actually matters to his education. Why would I normally empathize? Well, I took a LOT of classes that didn't exactly pertain to my degree. In fact, here's what I can remember...keep in mind that I was going to school to learn to program...

                        - Environmental Science (I'm stuck in a cubicle, not the rain forest).
                        - Speech (When are you going to have to speak in programming).
                        - COMP100 (Yeah, I know how to type, thanks).
                        - College Algebra (I was getting ready to head into Calculus in HS).
                        - Psychology (Because I want to know what my program thinks and feels about me).

You get the idea. But this would be like a Java or C++ teacher saying "You're failing, whattaya gonna do about it" and me responding with "Oh whatever like your class is BS anyway loser." Good stuff. I'm sure that dumbass'll be our company president soon with his award-winning attitude/work ethic.

I didn't really mind the easy classes (Intro to Computers...I learned to program BASIC from a book on a TRS-80 when I was 8 ), as they were easy As, and I needed the hours anyway. 124 total hours to graduate, I needed to average almost 16 hours a semester. Heck, with as much out of class time as the programming classes took, I needed some classes that could be passed in a coma. Yes, they are boring, but sometimes you pick up some good tips, or at least learn if you want to take that prof's classes again.
