This follows up teh happy for the staff.

Backstory- I was taking a training in low ropes course this past weekend. While learning and having fun, I got to be teh example of What To Do In Case of Emergency- I blew out a knee.

Monday I went to teh Dr (brusque). She sent me to xray. After running a couple errands, we went back by teh clinic, as the Dr. did not tell me what to do. they seemed confused to see us, told DH about my prescription (I was in the car trying to hate my crutches out of existence) and when my xrays should be in. We got my drugs (yea, hydrocodone and acetamenophen).

So I called when my xrays were supposed to be in. Nothing. I called after teh other end of the range of when the pics in- still nothing.

The next day I called them a couple hours after opening. A nice person read off my xray report to me- no broken bones! Hooray! No dr comment.

I called much later that afternoon- The person was surprised I even called, as the dr was to call me. I figured they might be a bit busy and it wouldn't hurt to squeak the wheel a bit. I was assured teh report was on the drs desk, and as soon as it was less busy, he would get to it (Ooh, he! not the she-beast!).

So all day today (wed) I wait and wait- get other stuff done, doze away etc. about 4ish try calling again. This time I am told that it has to be Dr. #1 and that won't be til Sat. Say WHAT? simmering on my side, so I don't quite catch if the Dr only works sat-mon or sat-tues. I expressed unhappiness that I was not told the day before it wouldn't be til the weekend when my report would be acted upon.

Is this normal? The only real health care I've needed for years now has been provided by Planned Parenthood who are prompt. even teh sucky dr when I had insurance wasn't that bad.

I suspect I have a sprained knee- but what would have happened if it had been something serious?!?! Is it normal to leave people stewing for 5 days?

Tomorrow I will rescue my records from them and never darken that door again! I already have an appointment with a bone doc I was hoping not to need, but damn, people!

If you're using Internet Explorer, there's a spellcheck function. It's the "ABC" with a checkmark in the upper right corner, just above the smilies.

My ex boyfriend, to my knowledge (as I have avoided talking to him for a year now) is the same way. But I believe he does it on purpose. The easiest way to fix the problem (because it became a habit of mine shortly after we started using IM) is to type slowly, occasionally look down at the keys as you're typing and to turn the spell checker on.

If you have Firefox, just right click in the comment box and click on the "Spell check this field" option. It should stay up permanently after that and all your misspelled words will be underlined in red.

Does it make me Grammar Hitler to point out that it's "grammar " and not "grammer"? Ah, well...I've been called worse.

Back OT: 5 days without so much as a phone call? I'd say you did the right thing to pack up and find a new doctor. The days of house calls and hot-and-cold-running bedside manners may be past, but it's simple courtesy to return phone calls as promptly as possible. My new doctor works with an insanely busy practice but I've not had to wait more than 24 hours to hear from someone.

On the bright side, glad to hear nothing is broken.

and some of us use TEH on purpose. Like for saying something like "OMG that's TEH CUTE" or "Teh r0x0r"

and you shouldn't be jerked around like that by medical.

Doctors these days seem to forget even with a shortage they can still be fired. You the patient are "employing" them, they get very surprised when you actually tell them "You're FIRED!" and get your records and go somewhere else. Just getting your records doesn't have the same effect.

Every time I've had an x-ray, it's been ready in well under an hour and I've sat with the doc and looked at it together. But I haven't had an x-ray in over 6 years.

Also helped that my mom is nurse and is friends with all the docs I went to.

The last time I had a non-teeth-related x-ray, it was over six years ago too. Chest-related stuff for a heart condition. That one was ready in enough time that Mom could go over it with my heart specialist before we left on the hour-long drive to get back home.

I understand "teh" when it's unintentional misspellings (thank you, Word, for fixing that for me), and I understand when it's intentional for "TEH CUTE" or similar (I do that too). What bugs me is when you get someone like this one guy on a different forum who set Firefox to replace "the" with "teh" on purpose, just to make his posts "different." It gets painful to read after a while, when it's post after post after post with every single "the" misspelled.

                      UPDATE!!!!

I went to the ortho today.

Oh wait- I did ask the other office to have my records ready for us to pick up. Of course, they did not.

Anyway, the bone guy was lovely- good sense of humor, forthcoming, encouraging. He have me exercises and told me to come back in 3 weeks to double check that only my MCL was badly damaged.

He expects me to work my way off crutches this week. I think it's doable. Also I gather he didn't like the drugs the other dr gave me (I wasn't whacky about them either), so I am on sodium naproxen. Much better!

Hey, that's awesome! I knew one girl with a similar injury, she was on crutches for ages (like a month), so a week is great. Good thing you're switching docs, if they can't even have your records on time.

I'm glad your knee is doing better. One of my friend's had the same kind of injury due to some idiocy on an airplane and, several years later, she still has trouble with it.

Were you prescribed something like Vicodin or Lorcet and acetaminophen? Or was it just a generic of Vicodin, etc. I'm hoping is was just one. Vicodin, et. al. has acetaminophen in it already. Doctors seem to love prescribing both, even though that can easily produce an overdose of acetaminophen. But I digress, that's another rant for another time!

Vicodin and Lortab. Identical meds -- both are completely useless to me.

But I'd be really surprised if a doc prescribed both at once..... I have a doctor now that with meds I'm on (forever ) says "be careful!" if I even take something OTC no matter what it is.

Oh, for the X-Ray thing.... from my experience in the past (as in last month or the monthh prior). X-Ray + report (sometimes on a CD even) is same-day. Many times within a few hours.

As an annoying side note: in Firefox, the "quick reply" box "forgets" the spell check this field. So you have to tell it to spell check it every single time.

Not from what the director of my program has said! He's been a pharmacy tech for around 30 years. Doctors seem to be rather infamous for prescribing Vicodin and acetaminophen.
