  • A gas station first!

I did my dreadful weekly fill up on Monday morning, and could not believe what I saw. I anymore get the 87 octane, being I refuse to pay the high prices on the higher octane levels. Many times, I have driven to the station and have seen bags over the 87 gas, or a sign that will say "No more 87 today." Of course, some asshats will get mad, storm into the place, and demand the clerk whip up some 87, or give them 89 for the 87 price.

Moving on, when I arrived, the sign said "no more 93 today" with bags over the pumps! All you could buy was 87 or 89 octane. Now, either others out there decided to suddenly pay higher gas prices, or gas supplies are so low, they never delivered any 93 octane gas.

Any more, when I go to the station and there are other stations around, most people are at the ones with the lowest prices and almost always are pumping the lower octane gas.

Can you check in the back to see if you have any extra gas?

Like I told a guy last weekend, "no". (really)

I've worked at one place that ran out of everything one weekend. The owner/manager didn't tell the new guy he was supposed to place a fuel order. So the new guy didn't. So the owner/manager got mad.

(This was the same guy who never paid us on time and wondered why we didn't give a shit)

you know what drives me nuts about the gas prices. (besides the high prices, but we're getting used to those unfortunately )

It's that the assholes are jacking up the price between grades.

              Back when it was under $2 a gallon, there would be a 10c price difference between grades. IE 87 = 2.00, 89 = 2.10, and 91(or 3, i don't remember) = 2.20.

              now it's unleaded: 3.49, super: 3.69, supreme: 3.89

pisses me off to no end.

yeah but around here (NC) I've had friends who work at a gas station tell me that they've been told to put bags on all the 87 pumps, which still had gasoline/petrol in them, to force ppl to buy the higher priced gasolines. (They work at a small little indie shop). Oh I would be annoyed btw if the premium was out and I was driving my car, which only takes premium (my car is 20 years old so I promise I'm not rolling in money) If I don't put premium in my car will stall out. Although I promise I wouldn't throw a hissy fit

I live in a rather "hick" town.

the other day, I had about 8 cars in front of me getting cheep gas before the price went up.

One of the reasons the line was slow... was that several people had trouble operating the gas pumps. The pumps are standard and the people using them use them all the time... problem is:

                    They are just willfully stupid.

Truth is, they're quite intellegent, why do they screw up?
I'm not sure, to get attension maybe?

That's why I like going to the Casey's stations in this area. The mid-grade (89) is priced where most other stations (BP, Shell, Amoco, Qik N Ez) price their low-grade (87). It doesn't matter on my little 4 cylinder what I put in as it all burns the same.

I also think the FS stations here in town also do the same as Casey's, I'll have to check.
