  • Thanks for Nothing

So, I'm sitting at my desk, typing away, as usual when the receptionist pages me for a call.

I finish the line I'm typing and pick up the phone.

Me: This is Andara, how can I help you?
Caller: Oh, there it is. I just hadn't gone far enough. Nevermind.
    Me: Ok.
    Caller: Thanks a lot.
    Me: You're welcome.
    *click*

This call amused the hell out of me for no particular reason. What I like the best is that the guy was sincerely thanking me for doing nothing more than answering the phone.

No no, it was the WAY you answered the phone! Your melodious voice gave him new hope and energy...

    Shoot, buggered if I know..

I'm guessing he had a question about something, but figured it out himself? And the thanks would then be for taking the time to answer the phone for basically no reason. Sounds like a nice guy.

To me it sounded like he was trying to get to your workplace and didn't have to ask for directions but I don't know what you do so...

Yup, he was trying to get to the building to pick up a part. The directions he was given weren't that great, however, so he was just starting to worry that he'd missed his turn when he reached his turn. That happened right about the time I picked up the phone.

He was obviously in a pretty good mood, and it amused me how exuberantly he thanked me for doing nothing more than answering a page.

can't say i've never done that before!
i sent in a help request for itunes cos it wouldnt let me buy anything - kept making me sign back in. right after i sent the request, i tried to "reset warnings" and that fixed it.

so when i got an email from then i wrote back that it was already fixed, and gave them good marks on customer service on the survey.
