  • Gas station employee - full of WIN!!! Short but sweet :)

    I was just at the gas station next door to pick up a red bull.

    There are two registers in this location. The usual register was closed, had a sign up 'register closed', and a cashier was tinkering around with the register in what seemed like an attempt to figure out what was wrong with it.

    There were about 4 people in line at the working register and it was moving fairly quickly (no lottery SC's, thank god). A SC walks up to the normal register and stands there, staring at the cashier for a few seconds. Here's what transpired:

    Cashier: This register is out of order, please step to the other one.

    SC: (In full EW mode) What? Well, a SIGN or something would be nice!!!

    Cashier: Oh, you mean like this one? (pointing to sign clearly displayed right in his face)

    SC: ::stomps out::

    It was said so dryly and so matter-of-factly, it just cracked me up.

    At this point, most of us in the correct line began to snicker, along with the cashier at my line who had a 'manager' tag on.

    I'd have applauded. Way to go, Cashier! YAY!

      Awesome.

      Occasionally when things have been out of order (like the ATM or freezie machine), I've seen SCs move the out of order sign and try to use whatever it is that's out of order. When the SC complains, I ask "Oh, did somebody move the sign?" They know that I know it was them, and they're not happy about it but there's nothing they can do.

          I can see that one as a future comic strip!
          I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

            Oh, SNAP!

            I have a similar problem with the SC's in my store. We have a front counter that has two registers on opposite sides. We only keep one open during non-christmas hours.

            I will be checking out a customer at the working register, with my back facing the other register and an SC will decide that a 3 person line is waaaay too long for them to wait in, so they go over to the other side and just wait there for someone to check them out. What boggles me, is the fact that they can't see the sign or all the stuff that we put on the counter(like my purse, or Swordsman's models he works on). They just stand there and wait, oblivious to reality.

              Please find somewhere else to stow your purse! It would take only one SC pissed that you didn't wait on him on that side to decide to do something really stupid.
              Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.
