It's the LAW!!

So these are from my brother. He works at a clothing store in the mall (think fish or loud music .)

So a guy comes in does a return/ exhange for something cheaper. Store policy is that unless they paid cash they don't get cash back.

So the guy's change was under $10. And he wants it cash back, well no can do for whatever reason he had to get store credit. He starts yelling at my brother who try's to explain that its store policy and there isn't anything he can do. Then the usual I buy all my shoes here I'm your best customer yadda yadda yadda.
Still can't do anything other than credit. Then he yells this beauty.
"Washington state law says that if it's under $10 you HAVE to give me cash back!!!!!!" How about a big fat no?

Lady from hawaii does a return and new purchase. She bought her original items in hawaii so the tax is different. (oddly enough it's cheaper than here)
Buys some new clothing. Then throws a huge fit when my brother won't change our state tax to match hawaii's for her, because she deserves the cheaper tax!! She yelled at him for about 20 mins telling him how rude and unhelpful he was.

That lady doesn't realize that tax goes to that certain state, so yeah you are gonna have to pay the difference. duh.

i've always wanted these backyard lawyers to quote said law verbatim, to include the number, just to see the reaction.

That only applies to gift cards. Not returns. Do people not listen? (did I really just ask that?)

Um...yeah..sure, buddy....you shop there ALL the time, but wouldn't use store credit?

Seriously, if I had to return something to a store that I actually did shop at all the time, store credit would be FINE. What's the issue? Ooh, could it be that said customer is LYING about his shopping practices?
