  • Wow just wow utterly bad parenting

I don;t know what to think of this but after I saw it I called hubby and he said I should post it on "that board you go to"

Anyway, in Wal-Mart I see a female with four children all under the age of eight. The three youngest are VERY well behaved considering. The oldest a boy is an utter terror, yelling screaming knocking things over ect. The female who I will loosely call Mom is yelling at the younger three to "Stop your brother", Keep him out of that. (The younger three range from est 5yo to about 2). Mom is talking on her cell phone and using every know cussword in the book.

The oldest wow, I think that sometime you can see into a child's future and they have "EPIC FAIL" flashing above them. This child was wearing a child size "Pimp Suit" obviously made for him, with gold chains ect, now before anyone says anything about kids being persnictey about what they wear....wait theres more.. He also had "Lil Pimp" shaved into his head. The others were rather tatty looking. Golden Child then PULLS Down one of the standies for a movie and walks away. Mom baps second oldest for "not watching your brother." At this point I could not hold up the line any more to watch this unfold. But wow, just wow.

OK, so the oldest child is having to be watched by his younger siblings? Does this seem right to anyone else?

When I was this age, it was always "Don't touch anything, or you'll be punished!" It worked, after I tested my parents' threat about this.

Lastly, it always irks me for a parent to see their kid knock something down, then just walk away and not make the kid clean it up. And it wasn't as if in this story, Mom took responsibility for what happened. It was his younger sister's fault for not watching her older brother.

I'm thinking there may be some behavioural or mental issues with the boy, and that's why the younger children had to watch him.

Just a note, in light of the fact that there is a thread on here discussing how it's in poor taste to make light of someone's death, the comments joking about this kid's demise are also a bit much.

Behavioural or mental issues is no reason for a 5-year old (the second youngest) to watch their 8-year old brother. Mum should'a gotten off the cell phone and reined in the kid. The other kids were proverbial angels, the Eldest was spoiled. No question about it. Had I pulled that kind of crap in a store, my hide would be FLAYED with a rope (and not by my parents, but by EQ!).

I think it's a little too much and too hard to ask such young children to watch over an older sibling. Now, if the brat child were like, 24 and the youngests were teens or older teens, that'd be another thing.

Behavioral and mental issues might be a reasonable excuse if lousy childrearing wasn't the direct cause. Not only is he spoiled rotten, but there is NO REASON that mommy dearest should have let an eight year old child leave the house dressed like a pimp or gangbanger -in-training.

As for the younger children watching him, they're simply not old enough to foist that kind of responsibility on them. 15 years old...maybe. But 5 years old is too young to be a substitute parent, period. And never mind they get the task because mommy is too busy jawing on her frakking cell phone to take care of her own child.

Were the younger children all girls perhaps?

                    Could have been gender discrimination.

For those who quoted me and took me to task on my comments, I guess I didn't actually post enough to get my meaning across.
I wasn't condoning the mom's behaviour. I was just pointing out that sometimes, there really are mental or behavioural issues, and they aren't always the Mom's fault.
Also, when there is a child like that in a home, sadly, the whole family ends up being that child's caregiver and guardian, even the younger siblings. Fair or not...it does happen.

In this case, from the story, it truly sounds like the Mom is a bit of a twit for spending more time on her cell phone than actually parenting her children, and it's absolutely disgusting that she allows the child to go out looking like that.
                      He's freakin' 8 years old.
Who the hell allows their 8 year old to get that kind of crap shaved into their scalp?
There comes a point when Mom just needs to say no.

The oldest two (of the younger kids) were boys the youngest one could have gone either way.

Ah, was just wondering. I see this a lot in,er, families that take a more "traditional" stance on boys and girls roles.

All of those kids are heading for some very rough times for the same reason- their mom.

Yeah.... I don't allow little terrors to act like that in my home, much less in my place of work or public. (Granted, I don't have any offspring, but I have told off a few little terror's that weren't mine and told the parents to grow a spin)

Even so, mom should have been watching instead of cussing into a cell phone. One more set of eyes to see what the boy's up to.
