I'll try to keep this as anti-Fratching as possible...

I totally support the 2nd Amendment, and that every mentally stable person with a clean record should be allowed to have a gun.

Having said that...some people are just dumb with guns. Period.

The last guy I dated chased a mosquito around his house with his gun (unloaded) trying to act cool and all Scarface and stuff. Totally lame and doesn't make you look badass. He'd use every excuse he could to pick that gun up and aim it at something, even though it was never loaded, it was just stupid.

So nowadays I'm a bit worried about men with guns. But no right to carry in Wi, so no biggie in public.

You know what? I am so, so, sooooo glad I live in Canada, where it is more than a little difficult to get a license to carry a handgun, much less acquire such things. I generally don't have to worry about seeing guns on my fellow shoppers, or wonder if the person carrying said gun is mentally stable and in control of their reflexes.

Agreed. I think I would wet myself if I ever saw anyone other than a police officer with a gun, holstered or not.

He was a detective there to get his unmarked car washed. Lucky bugger got one of the three Monaros local police use to help catch boy racers.
Had to go look it up and that particular little car would not look out of place in "The Fast and the Furious"!

Arizona is a great place if you want to carry a weapon. No license needed for open carry.
Same here in NM. Just need one for concealed carry. What I find hilarious though, is that you can't walk into a licensed liquor establishment with your gun in full view, but you can take it in if it's concealed! Of course, we're weird (We have nuts that hear the Taos hum and some are "allergic" to WiFi in Santa Fe. )

PL: Sir, sir!!!! Their are two men over their with guns. Gunns!!!! They are wearing hats and all black clothes with some other stuff on their belts. *points at cops*
ME: Those are police officers. We called them because of some kids who were trespassing.
PL: But you have someone with a gun in your store.
ME: Yes, police offices carry guns and we called them.
PL: But...... *pulls out phone* I'm calling the police!
Well, somebody got away from her keeper!

Heh, it's a regular occurrence here. Of course, we really are still the wild, wild west. Hell, the Lincoln County War could flare up again at any time.

I haven't been able to find out for sure, but someone told me that if you live in Catron Co, NM, you have to have a gun?

I don't know about New Mexico, but if you live in Paulding County, GA, you are legally required to own a firearm.

And ironically, most of your post would have been better suited to Fratching.

The whole thread was iffy to begin with, and is started to go down a path that doesn't belong here. I'll give everyone a chance to bring this thread back on track, but if it continues down this path, I'm closing it.

I can hear the Taos hum. But then again, I'm crazy.

There are 40 states in the US with a Right to Carry Law. Only two states allow you to carry if you don't have a permit.

The reasoning was apparently "the boy racers have them, why shouldn't we?" Also it makes the racers much easier to catch since they can't resist challenging it to a drag race.

And required, if you are a homeowner in Kennesaw, GA, to also own a firearm. Does not apply to renters, however.

Makes quite a bit of sense. Why drag out chalks and all sorts of gadgets when you can just give the cops working the hot-zones cars that can run down a tuned-up Civic?

EDIT: Chalk = slang for Chopper = slang for Helicopter, for those that don't know.

There's a liquor store on Riverside that's known for having armed owners. Some dumb asses tried to rob them at 4 in the morning and almost ended up being carried out. Poor babies. I feel sorry for them NOT.

Reminds me of a verified Darwin Award of a guy being shot dead during a robbery. He got a Darwin Award because the store was 1) A gun store, 2) was in a right to carry state (I believe Texas), 3) had a marked police car sitting out front, 4) had several customers inside at the time it was being robbed, including the officers from the car outside.

Guy ran in waving his gun and yelling... and got perforated for it.

You don't have to be nuts to hear the Taos hum, just have the right combination of sensory acuity. Sensory stimulus below the conscious threshold is often associated with a vague impression of a sound, smell or sight.
