as fenrus probably already knows my car was broken into last night... and all I can say is while I would like to do great harm to the cretin who broke in, I can at least laugh at his stupidity...
    items stolen
-a sirius receiver... without the antenna... oh did I mention that you can't buy an antenna without also buying a receiver (edited because marasbaras is better at noticing typos than me)
    - a cheap piece of crap $30 dvd player and a blockbuster DVD
    - a few deposit slips for a bank account that I don't have any more

    things not stolen
    - my iPod
    - my application for residency in the state of Utah (which has my name, address, phone, social, school history, and work history, everything you need to steal an identity)
    - my cd case with about 20 cds
    - my dvd set of the series Firefly (if they stole that I would hunt them down and kill them myself)
    - a cheap radio
-an emergency road side kit worth about $100

so in short, I'm out a sirius unit that I don't use anymore anyway, a cheap POS dvd player, and a broken window that insurance will repair... what did the thief get... a POS dvd player because nothing else will be of any value to him

it's a small consolation to know that even though I'm out quite a bit at least the thief didn't really get anything out of it... so remember children, crime does not pay.

Sorry to hear about the break-in - even if they don't take much, the feeling of violation is unnerving. Some little punk has a bunch of my CDs from my car and I hope he falls into a woodchipper. Feet first.

    Firefly for the win!
    Hmm...more zombies than usual...

Glad the Firefly discs were safe! That would be a staggering loss.

and do you want to know the strangest part... despite the fact that I have no rear driver side window... I still make sure that my car is locked... yeah, as if that will do much good

Someone once broke into my friend's car. The person was an idiot because s/he took only her $100 head unit but left her backpack, which contained five or six psychology and history textbooks, all worth about $200 EACH (at the least).

I think there is a common thread going on here about criminals being stupid...

Yes, but can you buy an antenna WITH an antenna?

Actually here its illegal not to lock a car, and if something gets stolen from a car which is unlocked (even if it's on your property) insurance won't cover it as you left it unlocked!

But I'm glad nothing was taken. Though same thing happened to a friend, someone broke into her car, had a look around and didn't take a thing.....she apparently had like $10-$20 in change in the ash tray and musical instrumnets etc in the back seat, all of which remained.

Sometimes I wonder if crims get confused half way through and forget their objective.....hmmmm now I'm inside what do I do?

Dunno about the chipper, but I do seem to remember that the Bible is somewhat fuzzy on the subject of kneecaps...

(poor Firefly. It never got the run it deserved.)

Stupid little things kept getting stolen, so I got fed up and locked the doors. Remember, one window doesn't work, as in its stuck down. Nothing was stolen again for the next month until I finally got around to fixing the window."

My grandparents pickup was broken into, in broad day light. They took a bag, which just contained a picture of my grandfather and a paper with their phone number. It was at the time, before he passed away. My grandmothers purse was in the back seat. A woman called them up, when she found it. Thank god for that. The other sucky thing about that, was that insurance didn't cover it. And yeah they were customers for many many many years.

                          EDIT*
Just noticed I left this part out. My grandmother got the window fixed for $30. And the insurance could not pay for that.

Off-Topic : This reminds me of the story of a man whose insurance wouldn't cover things stolen in his house because he didn't have enough bolts on his door, or not one from a brand approved by his insurance company, can't exactly remember which. The kicker ? The burglar broke in through the window.

I've had fun with thieves and my old car. It was a piece of crap car but it ran so I was happy. I never bothered to lock the doors cause I didn't want to pay for a broken window. A few times I would go out to my car and find the door slightly ajar but nothing ever went missing. One day however I get into my car and found a cd holder with about 20 cds in it. I left it in my car for a month figuring whoever put them there would want them back but they were never touched. Into the garbage they went.
