Had to return a movie to the pharmacy I used to work at while getting some pizza and a calzone for my family tonight. Figured I'd hit up the pharmacy first before getting the pizza. I got there and there was some guy using the front end's phone, trying to get a cab company. The kid working up front was trying to get the phone to work but he couldn't do it. Having grown up there, I told him he needed to select a line button first before dialing out. He thanked me, dialed the company, then handed the phone to the customer. As soon as the cab company picks up, the customer proceeds to curse out the operator, yelling about how his cab isn't there yet, yells a few more obscenities, then starts slamming the phone against the counter. I tell him to knock it off so he lets go of the phone the gets up in my face, asking me what I'm going to do about it. He curses me out and threatens me, then finally leaves.
I'm as non-confrontational as it gets. I got picked on all of high school. I got picked on in middle school. It wasn't until junior year in high school that I stood up for myself and it calmed down some. But the pharmacy is my home away from home. I grew up in that store. The owners are good friends of mine. The bosses are always going to be good friends of mine to. They've known me since I was a baby. The kids behind the counter were only 15 years old. The woman standing behind me, watching, was too scared to say anything. Someone had to call this asshole out.
I finally got to the pizza place and got my food. I went back to the pharmacy to make sure the guy didn't come back and harass the workers. They told me he didn't and thanked me for saying something to the guy.
Still a lil shaken up and it's been over an hour. I HATE confrontations.
