Sucky Bartender

So my regular bar and grill is closed on Sundays, I decided to go to another near my house after work for a couple of beers. A buddy of mines girlfriend works there, and we had hung out Thursday and Friday, so I am becoming a bit of a regular.

I walk in and sit down, and am greeted by the waitresses sitting at the bar bored. The bartender comes out from the back, and refuses to serve me. No reason, just says she will not serve me and walks to the back.

Waitresses are all shocked. I leave, get my beers somewhere else (meet the mayors son too). Now my question is, since I know the owner fairly well should I bother complaining about this.

Yeah, if you know the owner. I'd sure want to know if a friend (or even respected aquaintence) were treated like that in my business. Be nice about it, of course. Maybe ask in a "what was up the other night" kind of way.

Yah, I'd complain, no matter whether I knew the owner or not, they deserve to know that their staff is acting like that.

Yes, I would absolutely bring it up to the owner, though in a casual way.

A question, though. Are you familiar with this particular bartender? Have the two of you had any encounter in the past where she might be uncomfortable serving you as a result?

First time I went there she was bartender. Because I was with my buddy whose GF works there she gave me free beer. I tipped her well. Next two times she was waiting tables, and I chatted with her here and there. Thats about it. I am friendly, and the rest of the staff loves me, or at least they act like it.

that is weird... refusing to serve someone who tips well... i would think at least she should give a reason for why.

I am going back tonight, she probably wont be bar tending, but she should be there. I will let you know what happens.

I decided not to talk to the owner. With some of the things I have said to customers I would feel a little hypocritical. Maybe she was just having bad day.
