I also overheard a jackass talking about using a copying machine to copy a book.
I've only done that once. I'd borrowed a railroad book from the college, and wanted to enlarge some of the blueprints in it. Couldn't really get my own copy, since it was 25 years out of print by then, and I wasn't about to pay $300 for a book. (Different story if it would have been a textbook, but I digress...) Only answer...was to Xerox the entire book.

But still, to see students blow off their college education, and then bitch about how they can't get a job is a bit annoying

With that said, the only class I blew off, was my "computers in business" one. It was all about Excel spreadsheets...and boring as hell. First month, after one of the quizzes, the prof said I could stay home, and just show up for tests. I didn't do that--several of us went to class anyway to surf the web or play Quake (or Doom). Yep, we had several death matches

Every But they will grow up, just as we all did.
          We grew up?

          Wait, am I Gen-X, Gen-Y, or Gen-Z?

Or how they felll asleep in class and one idiot was bragging about how he flucked a test
Tell them they're not cool enough yet. Cool is when you fall asleep DURING the test and still pass.

I had one of my teachers annoyed and confused with that one. I kept nodding off yet maintained my grade in the 90s or so.

just to deviate from the norm...not all college students fit into those two types. I'm in college, I should be taking it more seriously, but I'm not apathetic and lazy to the point where I don't do my work. I don't party or anything, that's never been my scene. I'm not disgusting...at least I hope not =P and I don't brag about any of that crap, mostly because I don't do it, plus it seems pointless. it's like "Hey, look at me! I'm the definition of FAIL!"

but yeah, there are alot of idiots here in college who are only here because their parents can afford to send them.

Woah, sometimes going to a religious university sounds nice?
Depends on the religion and the unversity in question.

I shouldn't type tired. The moral was "I really, really hope you are talking about the exceptions." and "BYU rocks...? I haven't seen that kind of behavior here."

Be glad we weren't all that bad.

And throw me in with the "Yay BYU, didn't see that much" crowd.

Oh, and I had one science class where the teacher's lecture powerpoint slides were posted online, so I basically read those and passed the class with a nice grade despite using it as sleep-in time all semester.

PepperElf, I'd really like to know how you sleep during a test and still pass.

Well, let's see. I'm in my third year of college and this is what I've noticed so far.

There are those who do nothing but party. Thursday through Saturday night? They party. Sunday through Wednesday night? Probably still party at least half of those nights. They brag about all the dumb stuff they do. They think they are cool as hell. The finish with a whopping 9 credits out of the 15 they took that semester. Those 3 classes they passed? C's. The only time they study is before midterms (MAYBE) and before finals.

And then there are people like my friends and I. We don't go to huge parties. I've been to...1. It was utterly disgusting. I was there for less than five seconds before some dumb frat boy tried to get one of my friends drunk so he could take advantage of her (I have a bottle of vodka in my room...). I don't study all the time, but I do my work. I tutor people for free. We learn how to make pirogi's from my teachers. We play paintball...with out teachers. We duct tape our teachers to walls for fundraisers. We play dodgeball with our teachers after preview days for upcoming freshmen. We feel guilty about not spending time doing work. We wish we had the free time to go out and party, whether we'd actually party if we had the free time or not.

So there is hope. Those people who party all the time and do tons of stupid crap do not lead the nation. So I'm not too drastically worried about the future of America because the majority of them won't make a difference.

                        Whoo-hoo, I'm in the Gamer-Generation!

Wait, the kids born in the 90s don't make a partical bit of sense to me.

                        So I'm a Gamer-Gen with Previous-Gen leanings?

When I went to college, I skipped class all of the time. My bragging rights to that is the fact that I maintained all A's and B's. I skipped a business class at least once a week and still made a 96.

Well, I know that. My wife was the girl across the alley. Most of the apartment wasn't bad (though a few were soap operas in the making)... it was only one of them who was really scary (or pathetic, depending on your perspective.)

Yes and THAT is EXACTLY why many employers look down on applicants that are younger than 30. On the other hand, it's nice to hear about their "parents" piss and moan when their super-important offspring dont get hired and there's nothing that mommy and daddy can do about it, except maybe screw themselves.
