  • It's broken, broken I said!!11!

Okay, I haven't really posted much because the past few months have been quite barren when it comes to sightings and such. However, my dry spell seems to have ended this morning. It isn't really terrible service, it just irked me.

I was in line at my campus Tim Hortons. When I got to the counter, the girl asked me what I wanted, and I ordered an Iced Cappuccino. The girl said "Sorry, the machine's broken." I said "Oh, ok" and turned to look at the menu to see if there was something else I would like. While I did that the girl continued, going "IT'S BROKEN, IT'S BUSTED, IT DOESN'T WORK!" speaking loudly like I was deaf. I stared at her and said "OK" and she just went "IT'S BROKEN!" again. I guess I can understood that she didn't hear me answer her and repeated herself, but she could have said it nicer, like "Sorry, but I said the machine is broken, can I get you something else?" Instead she kept on doing that because she seemed to think that because she couldn't get me an iced cappuccino, she was done with me and wanted me to leave so she could serve the next person.
I couldn't have looked at the menu for more than 10 seconds so I don't think I was holding up the line or anything.

I went to the deli next to the Timmy's and got an apple juice. I figured, if she doesn't want to serve me, why bother her?
Man, I wish my college had a Starbucks. Strawberry and Creme Frappuccinos beat the hell out of Timmy's Iced Capps anyway.

Well someone needs to be retrained. See that's a time when you speak to the manager about their employees.
How was I supposed to know someone was slipping you Birth Control in the food I've been making for you lately?

It sounds more to me like she finally reached her breaking point; likely she had been yelled at/berated/called a moron by a billionty SCs already that morning regarding the unavailability of their *oh so pwecious* iced cappucinos, and you were the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back."

I witnessed that once... I was stopping into a gas station to get a coffee, and the machine was quite obviously not operational (as in, no coffee in the pots, no lights on, and a HUGE coffee-spill mess surrounding said machine). I looked at it, shrugged my shoulders, and started to head out the door in search of a more functional coffee setup at the station across the street. The girl on register yelled at me as I was almost out the door, "Hey, wait! You still have to pay for your gas!" I stopped in my tracks, gave her a quizzical look, and told her that I didn't get gas, and was only there for coffee. Her response?
"Well its FUCKING BROKEN, CAN'T YOU SEE THAT? I'm so fucking sick of this. WHY CAN'T YOU PEOPLE JUST LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE?!?!"
I just looked at her deadpan and said, "Umm....yeah. I'll get right on that," and walked out the door wondering if I had actually just experienced all of that or if I was being Punk'd.

That may be true that she had reached her breaking point. I hadn't thought of that. icmedia, that's really bizarre! Sounds like candid camera or something. Soulstealer, I may have spoken to the manager in a regular Timmy's but it's in a college, and I didn't want to hold everybody up, because they probably had class in 20 minutes or so. Still, it was weird.

Breaking point or no ... she needs to STFU and let the other person talk. Not only is it her job to do so ... it's the polite thing to do. Maybe ... gasp ... mariamousie was going to order ... SOMETHING ELSE.

Yeah, that worker was a bit of a dick. I know if what I want isn't avaliable, 90% of the time I can find something else I want, it just takes me a few moments to evaluate my choices.

Because I'm a snarky bastard at times, it would have probably ended like this...

"You've said that 4 times already. I said it wasn't a problem, so shut the fuck up and let me order something else " Not exactly polite, but I don't take kindly to getting ignored and screamed at.

I once got banned from a local coffee shop for saying exactly that...apparently it's ok for the barista to scream profanity at me because I dared to order something they were out of (chai tea, but no sign saying so anywhere) but it's unforgivable to answer back with comparable language in a normal speaking tone...

Wow, you guys are pretty outgoing, aren't you? I am totally non-confrontational, unfortunately. Usually if someone gives me crap I just stand there going "Huh? What?" Then I come home and bitch about it online.
