I was working the night shift Friday night when I witnessed something that just blew my mind with it's stupidity. I put this in "sightings" since I wasn't technically involved, and it was another Student Staff department.
Anyway we have three overnight student positions. Desk, Building Staff, and Protection. I changed the names of the positions because they changed the names recently to really confusing titles. Protection Staff make sure the students are okay. It's not too loud, no one is injured, no one is going to be injured, no one is drinking in public, etc.
So, I was at the desk when my friend who's on Protection Staff goes outside. Apparently there is a really drunk girl who wants to bring a guy to her room. So my friend is just double checking that this is what the girl wants to do. Or at least this is the story I get from a student who just saw the scene. I don't know the rest of the story, because we didn't discuss what else happened, excluding the moment of utter stupidity.
So this girl comes BURSTING through the main doors holding a Protection Staff raincoat. She races up there stairs. She is soon followed by a group of laughing people who keep saying. "She did it, we just think it's funny." I can't leave the desk, so I couldn't chase after them. About a minute after the group is out of my sight, my friend comes walking calmly up the stairs, and moves to where the group had gone.
She comes down a minute later. The girl not only refused to give back the jacket, but she denied having it.
There were many moments like this, until one of the other Protection Staff went up and retrieved the jacket.
This was 2 hours after the initial incident.
Sometimes I'm shocked at how stunned these kids can be.
