This really didn't affect me, but I was able to witness this on Saturday. We stopped off at the local Wamu to deposit some moola in the drive through. The drive-up ATM had six cars waiting in it, and while we sat in one of the teller lanes, the line for the ATM did not move once. I deposited my check, waited, got my receipt and ID back, and still this line did not move. Right as I was about to leave, the five cars behind the lead one all pulled away angrily, blowing their horns at the driver. I could see this woman was yapping on her cell phone, looking angry about something (like maybe not having any money in her account?). Usually, the drive up ATM moves faster than the tellers do, but not in this case.
This is pretty much why I usually will go in the bank, or use the drive through tellers. Any more, many people who use the drive up have problems, such as not knowing what they are doing, or not having the funds they are trying to withdraw.
