Guess what... more sightings... I seem to attract these people

it's not the driver's fault you're an idiot
Ok, so I'm on the way to SLCC today, transferring from the 39 to the 41 at Meadowbrook as I often do... now, some background, 41 starts at Meadowbrook and goes WEST to 5600 West, there is no service to the east of Meadowbrook on 41... another thing, the route sign for it's pick-up in Meadowbrook says that it is 41- 4100 south... 4100 south does not exist (at least not as any major road) on the east side, only the west side... oh and as the bus pulled up the sign board on the front of the bus said 41- 4100 south TO 5600 West... are you getting the picture that this bus is most definitely going to be going to the WEST?

so of course as we pull out of the station this guy goes psycho on the bus driver because he is going west and the driver should have warned him that this bus wasn't going east... why should the bus driver assume that anyone using the system would think that a bus with a sign board saying TO 5600 west would be going East?

I wonder how long she'll be beaten before she leaves this guy
coming back from SLCC I decided that sense I needed to go to Wal-Mart that I'd take the 47 back to Murray North (because it's slightly quicker to get into downtown that way on TRAX because normally i can catch the train before the one I'd catch if I took 41 to Meadowbrook)... while waiting for the train redneck guy pulls up in a truck, yells at a girl on the platform to get her fat ass over to the truck, goes to park, runs onto the platform, and then walks calmly with her arm in arm (with her looking less than willing to be held by him)... am I the only one who thinks it's obvious that he beats her?

    another doppleganger
In no way sucky, but I saw a guy at Murray North who seriously looked just like Shia LeBauf (sp?) in the new Indiana Jones movie... how sweet is that.

no one's fault, but holy shit
I finally got around to ordering new glasses... and holy shit have lenses and exams gotten expensive... about $60 for the exam, $55 for EACH lens and then $110 for the frames (granted, I could have gotten a lot cheaper on that by not getting flexible frames, but damnit, I like flexible frames )... when did glasses get so expensive?

Same as any other suddenly expensive item, when gas prices skyrocketed and the economy started going down the proverbial toilet

My last contacts exam was $95, and $60 per box of contacts. Then I paid an extra $20 to get the member discount card, so when I get my glasses updated, it'll only cost me $35 instead of $70.

I am no longer of capable of the emotion you humans call “compassion”. Though I can feign it in exchange for an hourly wage. (Gravekeeper)

I get mine at America's best... With shipping, eye exam, 2 pairs of glasses, addition charge to turn one pair into sunglasses and tint the other.. About 160. Yaaaaaaaaay!

My eyes were so bad I had to get new scripts yearly.

Then I got my eyes lazered. In the long run, this will be cheaper.

you could afford the upfront for lasik

            you suck

then again, even if I could afford it I don't think I could get over the idea that they are going to first cut open my eye and then shine high powered lasers into it... I shiver just thinking about it... I think I'd rather have a blood draw and I have a deathly phobia of needles and regularly pass out during blood draws from the fear (shut up, I know that I'm a wimp already)

I have 20K sitting in a bank accumulating money for no good reason.

Actually, lasik was pretty damned cheap. I think it was just over 3 grand for both eyes, anti-biotics for four weeks, special eye drops, designer sunglasses and designer goggles (you have to sleep in goggles the first few days after lasik) and 10 ambian pills in case you can't sleep in goggles.

I can tell you all the steps for the lazik if you really want to know. It's not painful at all and there are no needles involved.

The problem with laser treatment, as I heard it, is that it only corrects the central vision - not the peripheral. Since I use big computer screens all the time, that's not ideal. Also, not that it matters to me, the Air Forces won't train pilots who've had laser correction, for this reason.

It's better to just get normal glasses which are slightly *over-corrected* for you. That will slow down the deterioration, or if nothing else they will last longer because you grow into them before you grow out of them.

Under no circumstances accept glasses (or contacts) which are under-corrected. There was a theory that this would encourage your eyes to re-adjust themselves. It turns out that it does precisely the opposite.

Luckily, my eyes are now fairly stable, so I just go for a check every couple of years and (usually) keep my old pair.

                    Oh that's nothing.

The glasses I'm wearing now cost $444. Now, I myself just a week and a half agao had an eye exam in preparation for getting new glasses. The full exam was $125.

My new glasses are going to be nearly $500 (haven't got the final price, because the folks who run the eyeglass shop I've been going to all my life were on vacation).

My lenses are something like $80 each. I need polycarbonate, aspheric lenses because otherwise they'd look like Coke bottles (my eyes suck). +4/+4.25 with prism.

$90 for anti-reflective coatings (which I have already; dont' want to downgrade).

And about $250 for the frame w/clip on sunglasses. I need titanium frames because my sweat corrodes steel frames, and plastic ones look horrible and aren't as rugged.

Could be worse. You could have my piss poor vision insurance.

Free eye exams, multiple hundred dollar deductible, contact lenses are not covered, Lasik is not covered.

Yeah, because everyone still wears glasses. Some of us can't wear them and prefer contacts. Oh well....I only lose $20 three times a year by not being covered that way.

My mamma shelled out for designer sunnies for me a few years ago, and the lenses now give me headaches while I drive, so I finally got new lenses. $260 for polarized ones (yes I paid for them myself). My latest pair of glasses cost my dad over $800... yes that was my Christmas present last year. Hey, he shouldn't have said "pick any frame" if he didn't want me to pick the D&G ones... Plus my eyes are so bad that I have to get the thinner, more expensive lenses, and even then they're thicker than the frame.

We should have a "compare vision" thread. Personally I can't read a book or computer screen without my glasses, and I'm short-sighted. Beat that!

It's like $75 - $85 for the exam here, and my lenses are $100 + each (that's because I get the thinned ones, otherwise they'd be an inch thick. I R blind). My frames were about the same price I think, got them from wal-mart, they usually have decent frames for pretty good prices. In the end I think my glasses cost just over $350, maybe a bit more.

I got you beat. My current glasses are titanium framed safety glasses with polycarbonate lenses. OSHA considers them to be completely usable as eye protection, provided you attach side shields. Frame cost: $330. Each time I get new lenses it sets me back $80. Luckily for me, the frames are just about indestructible and I can just get new lenses put in the old frames each time. I just shudder every time I contemplate permanently losing my glasses...
