Wait, Lupo, you're in SW Houston?

SO AM I! I thought you were in the Humble area? Or am I just going nuts?

YES!! You asked me in one of my threads and I responded, but I guess you never saw it. I'm in SW Houston between 59 & 610-sh...without going into too many details in a public forum, of course.

Although I can't say for certain whether or not you're going nuts...I mean...you deal with PEOPLE on a regular basis, soooo...yeah...

Gosh, I must have missed it. I'm sorry!

I'm somewhere near 59 and beltway 8. Hey, since there are so many posters in Houston, we should have a Houston Meetup.

It's all good. I'm kinda near beltway 8, too. I live a little near Braeswood, which runs through 610, 59, and beltway 8, (Well, when it turns into Bissonet...)

I'm familiar with the area; Roommate had a couple dates with a girl from the Breaswood area. Too bad it didn't work out, she was great.

I'm on Beechnut. (which, too, is a long ass street)

Unfortunately, McD's will have to be it or I'll have to start planning better and actually, y'know MAKE myself a lunch once in a while *sigh*
You don't have a HARVEY'S in your area?

              www.harveys.ca

              I recommend their:
              - Veggie Burger
              - Poutine
              - Frings
              - Chocolate Milkshakes

One of their employees said some half-assed things once in my order, but I didn't care, it was funny, we both laughed. (I ordered a milkshake, they only have chocolate, he asks "Um, do you want that chocolate or, um... we only have chocolate" and then "um, for here or to go" so I replied "uh... i don't think it makes any difference for this order, but to go". We both laughed, his manager came over, probably to apologize, because she heard the entire thing, but saw me laughing so nodded her head and walked away)

The service at my local A&W (A&W/KFC combo) is a little slow, but not that bad, and I like their Coney dogs well enough that it's not an issue.

Speaking of fast food...I've been seeing "Sonic -- America's Drive-In" commercials on TV here in Seattle for years now. When they first started airing, the closest Sonic was just a bit under 300 miles away (287.4 to be precise). As of two years ago, the closest was 152 miles away. Last year, the frequency (since the commercials started airing) had doubled and the closest was 127 miles. I just checked again recently, and the closest is now 93.3 miles away, but on the far side of a mountain range. At this rate, they should have one in my city sometime in 2013 (the ads started around 2004).

You'd think they'd stop wasting their advertising, since people are unlikely to drive 100 miles for a milkshake...

*coughs softly* I went 78...it was yummy and well worth it. Then I went to the beach and stood in the lake.

EQ, Houston doesn't suck... I saw on that map someone posted at least 2 Long John Silvers... oh how I love LJS... too bad the only one in Salt Lake is downtown... and it may or may not be open on any given day depending on the progress of the City Creek Project. If anything Salt Lake sucks because we don't have a Jack in the Box. Oh for me the center of suck for restaurants has been (they're getting better though) has been the Carls Jr at 35th and Redwood... they take forever, they just drop your tray and run, don't ask if you need anything else, up until recently they didn't even have fry sauce

this is why now I almost always eat at the Astro Burger near where I live... considering that it is family owned, and a member of the family is *always* there... oh yeah, the employees will do their job properly, or they won't have a job long. OH and a mini get together invite... I go to Astro at 39th and state nearly every thursday around 1pm... one of these days all the Salt Lake CSers will have to meet for burgers and frys

We have a few A&W's in my city. Well it is a KFC/A&W combo, but still. I love their food. Infact, today for lunch I had an A&W #2.

I think practically all the A&Ws around here (which isn't a great number) are combo Long Johns + A&W.

Long John's used to be pretty big around here but then they started disappearing. A&W seems to have breathed life back into them, but I still wish there was one a bit closer. It's just cool having a place with burgers, chicken (sandwiches, and fried), and seafood all at once, and all at least decent or pretty good.

I have a Jack in the Box just down the street. And while I've never eaten at a Carls Jr, I have eaten at Hardees back east.

Well, Smiley, you just guaranteed that I'd never go to Salt Lake City. I love Jack.

                            But Houston still sucks.

I've also got a Culvers which has very good draft root beer as well. I haven't stopped by there nearly enough.
Their milkshakes are GOD. Ahead of Backyard Burgers and Sonic - about the same as Steak'n'Shake. Massive burgers, too.

I miss Cracker Barrel like CRAZY. There just aren't any good 'homecookin' restaurants around here. I would almost kill for some catfish - fried or grilled. Real cornbread and buttermilk biscuits.... *sigh* I just looked, closest one is 30 miles away....
