  • Walmart Leftovers or What have you found in the parking lot?

Writing about Walmart in another thread reminded me about what happened a while back.

I was with my boyfriend at the time and his father (maybe 7 years ago). We stopped by walmart for some things and got back to the van. The boyfriends dad opens the back car door to load the groceries and realizes that he has an old futon mattress stuffed in there that he was going to take to the dump. Any guesses to what he did next?

    *JEOPARDY THEME*

Thats right folks, he pulls the mattress out of his van..plunks it in the parking spot next to him, loads his groceries, gets in the van and DRIVES away. leaving the mattress behind....Seriously?!?! I remeber even then saying something like "What the hell do you think you're doing?" While my boyfriend and him chuckled at their cleverness of not having to pay a dump fee..

My apologies if you found that mattress and had to get rid of it...

Anybody else find anything odd in parking lots?

I used to date a guy who was so cheap that he would bag up his household trash and take it to the trash can in the grocery parking lot. Needless to say, I no longer date him...

Not in the parking lot, but somebody left an old screen door behind the store not too long ago.

Wish I would've been the one to discover it. I could've installed it someplace. Like one of the entrances to the backroom. Wouldn't that be sweet?

I found a case of beer on the bottom of a shopping cart that was in the stall and not taken in by the cart guys yet.

Found a desk when i worked at WallyWorld. One of those big old steel office desks. Took it home, i needed a computer desk, we just stuffed it in the back of my Legacy wagon. Getting it upstairs to the apartment, now that was a challenge.

Once at my store, this family bought a microwave. Almost a YEAR later, they try to return it, which anyone can tell you is NOT gonna happen. (Our club has a pretty clear 30 Days return policy, except around the holidays, when it's extended until Jan 25 for all items purchased since, like, Black Friday the year before. And this was in February.)

The guy even had his receipt. But we couldn't take it back. No can do.

So the guy leaves it in the parking lot.

Once had this middle school kid, clearly just hopping out of the car to do this, try to throw his old school textbooks out in our vestibule trash bins. I told him he couldn't dump those there. So he just goes to the trash bins at the end of the vestibule (where I couldn't see him) and dumped them there.

Not necessarily at just Wal-Mart, but almost always at Wal-Mart....

Diapers or other icky things inside the carts. I really feel for the cart guys and the job they have to do, but can't someone clean out the carts every once in a while?

And part of living in an apartment complex with an enormous dumpster, you'll always have random cars stopping by and dumping their trash into our dumpster, and random creepos and weirdos and their even crazier vehicles stopping by to dive into our recycling dumpster and take out all the aluminum cans.

Eventually after pushing carts and cleaning up those messes, a part of you simply dies. You no longer care about the world, nor about the tidiness of the carts. Why should the cart pushers have to play mother to a bunch of adults, cleaning up after their often horrific messes, and doing this at crap wages and with absolutely no respect. After a while doing that, it just doesn't matter anymore. First apathy sets in, then resentment, then bitterness. Then usually the two weeks notice.

                          in my chain

carts are hosed off when they get really bad

they are supposed to have the trash removed before they're given to customers, that's either the cart pushers' or people greeters' job, depending on the store

name any food, i've found it in that condition, probably frozen as well

One thing I truly hate, and think is really disgusting is the way some fools empty their cars ashtray outside their door onto the road and just drive away... it's so gross, and sooo fricken lazy!!!

thankfully no one has actually done it in front of me, or they may have experienced some physical harm, (at least a face full of ciggie butts).....

I did turn in this well to do couple who owned a nice house in my old neighborhood for bringing a car full of their household garbage and dumping it in our complex dumpsters a couple times a week. They even got so bold as to dare me to turn them in. I did, they got a surprise ticket in the mail for unlawful dumping. I never did see them out there again.

I have found a bag of unopened potatoes on a cart in the parking lot and on a separate occasion a whole case of bottled water. Yes, I took them both, but I waited first to see if the person would come back to get them.
