I love wrong numbers. For a short time, my hubby would get calls and texts from girls saying they had fun that weekend but calling him a different name. I would just yell down the hall that some girl had fun with him last week just to give him hell. And the time he was leaving for New Zealand and people telling him to have fun. I pretended to get mad for not inviting me.

This thread reminded me I needed to check my business 800 number.... it's not listed anywhere yet it gets 5+ calls a month, with like 95% being from Texas. Haven't a clue why I get calls, I've had the number for over a year.
But sometimes I get funny calls to it. Once a person called to order software (by coincidence.... it's a software-computer based company)... it took 5 minutes before I could tell from the stoned individual that they wanted something that 1) we don't have (we only do custom and company-designed stuff) and 2) wasn't even out yet lol.

I had a number that was 1 digit off one of the pizza places.
I finally got to the point where I would just take the orders to get them to stop the repeat calling after I told them I was NOT the pizza place.
With the advent of the interwebz, I just left the pc online.

lol When I first got my cell number I recieved random calls from random people, but it didn't last long. But, I would periodically get a phone call from this same old lady. She must be really old because she would swear I was "Betty" or something. And she has to be deaf cuz I would have to scream at her, "You have the wrong number!!!" I totally loved the, "Oh, so this isn't Betty?" One time she started to strike up a convo with me. I haven't heard from her in awhile.
I don't get people, though, who call a number and SWEAR they dialed it correctly. Um...no you didn't! Or something went screwy at least. When it comes to getting things done, we need fewer architects and more bricklayers. ---Colleen C. Barrett---

I thought you had to have a pin to get through on a personal 800 number. I remember the one time I had to use one it was required, I am guessing to keep random people from calling in. No pin, no connect.
I got lots of random calls when I changed my number. I got calls for some girl named Erin. It does not seem that she ever lived in my town, if her number was dialed without the area code (in chicago I think), it relayed out to Arizona instead.
Her friends were nice though.
I feel crazy. Like I'm drunk and trapped in a water globe and someone won't stop shaking it.

For the past year and a half, there's an elementary school that thinks the phone number that belongs to my sister is for one of their students. Every time the kid gets in trouble (and it seems to be for skipping classes more than anything else), the school dutifully phones the number and reports it to my sister's answering machine. Despite her calling the school a couple of times to correct the information, the calls still keep coming.Last edited by MrSmiley; 10-18-2008, 06:53 PM.Shop Smart. Shop S-Mart!
