  • Slight (old) self-sighting, but also sucky service

Well I can't say I'm always nice... I've been a right old bitch from time to time...

and i remembered one of my sayings of , "Should Be and Is are two different things." And yes I used that as a customer once. and ... if the woman I'd said it to had an account here I'm sure she'd have posted about me.

but i'm still calling it a slight self-sighting cos... in reality she really didn't know what she was doing, so the service was... pretty much shot.

I was checking into a kinda-hotel ... kinda cos it was company owned, only available to us... much cheaper than a real hotel, but this is back in the late 90s, so there wasn't much for internet service beyond dial-up, at least not there.

I'd used the place before, so I didn't know the exact set-up sequence for turning on the phone service to the room... but I knew enough that when this new woman did something totally different that what everyone else did... i just knew there was going to be issues.

So needless to say, there were issues. I couldn't dial out, couldn't use my code to go online or make phone calls. Every time I went back to try to get it set up properly, it never dawned on her that she hadn't done it properly... or she realized it but was sick of me and didn't want to fix the issues.

When she said "it should be working."... I said back, "Should be and is are two different things." She got pretty pissed off

Then, she decided that laptops weren't good for the phone lines and mine must have broken the system, popped a fuse...

By this time... one of the other guests had let me try his code and it worked, so...

Me: So you're saying that my laptop broke a fuse... which would mean absolutely no calls can be made on that line, because a fuse is broken.

Her: Yes. Your laptop probably put out a voltage.. (bla bla bla on why my laptop fux0red the system and they'd have to get repairs made)

Me: So, why would the phone line magically work when I use someone else's code? If I popped the fuse, the other shouldn't work either... but it does.

    Her: (wash, rinse, repeat)

In the end, I had to use the other guys code cos... she had no understanding that... yeah she didn't set my account up properly. I'm just glad that other guy let me use his code otherwise I'd be sol because she didn't know how to do it.

i can't remember if i ever went back afterwards. i will say i'd never seen her there before, but yeesh...

Nah, I've said the same thing before. They can think it's sucky all they want, but it's not unless I'm the one screwing up.

Her stupidity and suckiness earned much more than your somewhat smartassed remark, like a good slap upside her head.
