I caught a shoplifter the other day!
I was in a line behind 2 people at the Deli counter in a grocery store. I was trying to buy a 44oz fountain drink while they had 2 meals plus their basket's worth of stuff.
Guy in front said "Ya don't ring up produce here, huh."
Cashier said, "nope, no scale."
Guy had 2 roma tomatoes in a bag, and he put them back into the basket on the floor. After cashier rung up his stuff, he put the bag of paid for stuff into the basket.
I was watching him, bored.
He then proceeds to take the bag of 2 romas and put them into the paid for bag.
I signaled the cashier, mouthing " he got 2 tomatoes! " but she didn't do anything.
So just before they finished off, I said loudly, "Hey, I didn't know you could take produce without paying for it!"
Woman turns around and goes "Hwah?"
I look straight at the guy who did it and said, "You. I saw you put the tomatoes in the bag. Take em out, you didn't pay for them. I'll take them back MYSELF."
He takes them out of the bag, puts them on the counter and quickly pulls his woman with him and scuttles out of the store.
I paid and left.
BUSTED!
