Went around this morning turning in applications. Stopped at a movie store that's advertising a new store opening and that they're hiring for the new store, so I have an app filled out to turn in. I show up behind an older gent... with extremely long hair, a hobble, and a bag full of change. Oh, goodie. Mind, now, i'm only there to hand in my app/resume. So, I stand a little back, as guy smells, and he's doing a return on something he paid for with credit.
OG: Old Guy
C: Cashier
OG: I want that back in cash!
C: I can't do that, you bought it with credit.
Round & round with that line for a few minutes, OG eventually breaks the loop oddly enough.
OG: Can I give you a penny, then, to make the credit on there an even $13.00?
M: *hand meet forehead*
C: I don't think I can, there's no way to put a penny onto a gift card.
OG: That's how they do it down in Irving.
M: *no it's not*
OG argues about this for a while, eventually stumbling into: What do you mean, your computer can't do it, computers only do what you tell them to.
M: *Not quite, you luddite!*
And, of course, he keeps repeating that, apparently thinking it'll change the cashier's ability. And I am only just now even realizing the OG might've been trying to anger the cashier just so he'd do it.
About five minutes of this argument go on, then OG suddenly says he has movies on hold he wants to pick up. And pay for with the gift card he just received!
So, he was arguing just to be arguing.
