  • SC gets pwned

OK, so I debated posting this sense I know it could go into fratching territory, so before the mods have to say it let's keep this about a sucky person getting pwned and leave the politics to the many established threads in fratching.

So waiting in line at Carl's Jr. The person in front of me was a black woman (important). There was a two guys in line in front of her, talking about Prop 8 (once again, not talking about prop 8, talking about the sucky guy)

SG- you know, I don't understand these protests... the gays are just sore losers, it was put to vote they lost, they need to learn to accept it and move on.
Black Lady- do you honestly believe that sir?
SG- yeah, nothing good ever came from sore losers causing a scene.
BL- oh, so me being allowed to vote is a bad thing?
    SG- err, no... but...
BL- and is me being allowed in the same line, using the same restroom, being able to sit at the front of the bus, and having equal opportunity for jobs a bad thing?
SG- no, of course not... I'm not a racist or anything like that... it's great all those thing happened.
BL- and guess how they all happened? Through peaceful protests like the one today that you are complaining about... if women and blacks had followed your advice we would still be segregated and not allowed to vote. While you may disagree with it, it is their right to demonstrate, now would you be so kind as to keep your drivel to yourself.
    SG_ er, umm, well... *stutter*
Me- ma'am, can I buy you lunch.

    I love it.

Very nicely done and I appreciate how she gave specific examples instead of the general rambling I hear about most political/religious/etc arguments.

I like the way she gave them not only a good dose of STFU but also handed their asses to them.

                Beautiful.

I know! And while she was doing it, stated her point intelligently and in a way they couldn't argue.

I wasn't even there and I want to buy her lunch!

oh i love it!!! i had a similar argument for 102 here (it was our version of prop 8) but it was "well then lets make divorce harder, adultery a crime, and allow states to disallow interracial marriages again... if it really is a privilege" but it was a family member and i could be a bitch....

Maybe it's just because of where I grew up, and the company my mother (who is a social-worker) kept*, but for some reason my mental 'voice' has that line being delivered in a rich southern accent by an older, matronly woman.

We had the same thing pass here in AZ, but not so vocal a protest about it. I am guessing they are watching the outcome in CA as a basis for action.

I find it odd since most of my friends here aren't all that up in arms like the people I know on California. Strange times they are.

This lady had me until she said this. How arrogant. What she says here amounts to her trying to quell someone else's opinion, the very thing she's claiming to be against. I mean, seriously, she used the word "drivel"?

Count me as one who is against Prop 8 but who is also against arrogance such as what came out of this lady's mouth.

                            Ha ha, nice!

Not knowing how this whole proposition thing works, I'll say I don't see how society is harmed by allowing gays to marry, but the people spoke on November 4, the supporters of gay marriage can have their say, and we'll see what happens next.

People have the right to an opinion but no one has the right to have it respected. If someone doesn't want to have to defend their opinion on anything then they should just keep it to themselves, but that would make them intellectual cowards. Open argument is good.
