Idiocracy is well on its way to being true, although I think it will take less than 500 years to get to the same place. My husband and I were talking about it and I pointed out that almost all the natural eugenics that used to occur to control the growth of the stupid were gone. Unless there is some catastrophic disease or natural destruction, I expect that the dumbing down of humanity will continue unabated.

Sometimes I feel guilty because I had kids and they have to face an even worse future.

I agree with you on that. Instead of letting stupid people die off...they get coddled. Society coughs up various excuses for the behavior, and usually either ignores it, or outright *rewards* it. Why else would Paris Hilton have celebrity status? I have a feeling that if this trend isn't reversed, society as we know it is doooooomed!
