On myself. Yes, yes, I made a poor cashier's day a bit odder...
Mom treated for burger King today, and they have kid's toys from Nintendo games right now. I've been going into that store recently, hoping to grab a Princess Peach toy, cause she's my favorite character ever (except maybe Nelsha Stylus... but I hold little hope of finding her in a kid's meal...)
We went through the drive through, and, while they bagged our order, Mom looked at me, "Anything else?"
I grinned and said, "Actually, I wonder who their toy is this week?"
Mom gave me a look. "Really? You want me to ask to check?"
    "If you want."
Our cashier came back, handed us our food, Mom asked, and the cashier stopped a moment, looking at us in the car, two adults,no kids in sight. But she did, and damn, it was Yoshi.
I said, "Oh well," and we left.
Okay, so not sucky, but definitely out of the ordinary...
    "I call murder on that!"

Actually, I think the burger joint kiddie toys are quite the collector's items in some adult circles (no, not adult in THAT sense!)

It's certainly not at all weird, or strange, or even unusual, to me. I wouldn't have batted an eyelid. But then, I bought the Muppet series when McDonalds had them.

Given what people were doing for the Beanie Babies they had in Happy Meals a while back, that doesn't seem odd at all.
Once, I had a woman come up to me while I was eating lunch (not even working there!) at a McD's and ask if I would help her get another Beanie. Apparently, they had a per-customer limit, and she'd already hit it.

Hey! I got the Muppets, also. Not happy meal toys, but little plushies. You could buy them cheap with a meal purchase or something. It's been a long time. Still got 'em, though.

Our office loves the McD's toys, sometimes a team will go down there for lunch and everyone gets a happy meal just for whatever toy they're offering that time.

Makes our desks kinda cluttered though.

I just bought the entire "Wizard of OZ" set for my granddaughter *cough, cough* because I thought they were so adorable.

Anyone remember when Hardees was doing Flintstones drinking glasses?

My mother went out and bought every one of them "for you kids", but they went straight into the "special" cabinet, where we couldn't reach, and were never allowed to use them because they are "collectible"

Well here it is, years later, at the ages of 24 & 22 (my sister & I) and the glasses are still in that same cabinet and haven't moved in close to 20 years.

I don't think they were for us.

LOL... my sister did the same thing to my mom when McD's had the Neopets toys out. She was going there for happy meals for days.

I got the Wicked Witch because they came out here just before Halloween. Usually I just get the boys' toys because they're more fun.

Juwl, you should ask if they have different toys. Sometimes they have leftovers or multiple choices, so I always ask if they have the specific toy that I want.

The one time I did, the cashier pulled out one of the kid's meal bags, unrolled it, and tried to hand me the toy. I scoffed (and did my best Fat Geek impression), "That is obviously a Chain Chomp, I asked for a Princess Peach."

Sadly, they had no wicked witch when we got my daughter her Wizard of Oz toy.

And I'd totally collect McD's My Little Pony set now if I had the money to splurge.

I went in to BK today! And asked the guy running cash what toy they had today. He said, "A lot..."
I said, "If you happen to have a Princess Peach, I would love to buy one from you..."
He did, so I did, and my day was complete.

We have 2 sets of Disney glasses from McD's and 2 sets of Shrek glasses. One set was given to the kiddies while one set was to display. Also had a set of Beanie babies still in package but the young ones decided it was time to set them freeeeee!! was annoyed but in the end they are still toys.
In other news....my son wants the Yoshi toy(his fave) but all I want is a triple(artery clogging, heart attack inducing) Whopper. It calls to me.

When I'm on the road and just need something, I'll swing into McDs and get the Dbl Cheeseburger kids meal. I've kept the toys, got them displayed on the TV in our bedroom. Told people at work that when I get my new company van, I'm gonna take all the toys and line them up on the dashboard.
