  • Overreact much lady?

So me and the hubby are at this steakhouse a few weeks ago and I witnesses something that I still don't understand. Behind us was a husband and wife and the husband was spanish. When it come time for them to order the husabnd was having trouble speaking in english.( I mean it as visible as the nose on my face)Well the waitress say oh I know spanish and done so and then man orders with no problem.Well the lady sat there for a few mins and then when the waitress came back with the drinks all hell broke loose.

    Psycho Bitch-PB
    Young girl-YG

Keep in mind that the PB was yelling and throwing her arms all over the place enough that the entire place had stopped and was looking.

PB- I dont want you to fucking talk to my husband in spanish .Hes an american damn and you talk to him in american.

YG-Sorry I just thought that since he could....
    (thats all she got out)

PB-Shut up YOU will not talk to my husband in spanish.

This went on for at least five more mins.Of course the poor girl was almost in tears. And the spineless manager didn't make these people leave or anything.I still don't understand what the big damn stupid deal was?

Maybe the woman was afraid the waitress was actually flirting with her husband instead of taking his order? How much you want to bet the wife only knows a modicum of Spanish herself and is insecure about people speaking the language with him? Other than that, I have no clue.

In that case, how are they married? If he can't speak English well and she can't speak Spanish well, they're gonna have more communication problems than your average couple.

She may have thought the waitress was flirting, but probably speaks Spanish well enough herself.

Still a bitch, though. Sucks that the manager didn't get rid of them. The waitress was perfectly accommodating and trying to make their meal pleasant and EASY. She deserves a cookie.

Or... they might have been trying to use the language barrier as a way to scam.

but since the YG spoke fluent spanish...
that might have been what *really* pissed the wife off...

Classic case of 'dammed if you do, dammed if you dont'.

We hear stories all the time about people expecting emps to speak to them in their native tongues, and getting all pissed off when we dont.

So here is an emp going above and beyond, trying to do the right thing and be helpful, and she STILL gets shit on. Twice. By the customer and then by the spineless management who, by their inaction, condoned the abuse of their employee.

          Nice.

I would not be at all surprised if that's what all the fuss was about.

And that manager should've stepped in, the coward.

Okaaay.....without stepping over the line on the language barrier, I find it actually amazing she was upset about someone speaking her husband's language. Usually, if I deal with someone who speaks more Spanish than English, these people often get pissy when I don't have someone that speaks Spanish.

Now that I got that out of the way, it's obvious who runs the household and the marriage. Definitely not him.

I know this girl who is married to a second-generation Hispanic guy. He's bilingual and speaks perfect English, but speaks mostly Spanish with his family.

She refuses to learn Spanish because "it's too hard." I always thought that even though her husband speaks perfect English, it would probably mean a lot to him if she learned his family's native language, especially if she's married into it. I think that's what this "lady' should do as well. Maybe then you could tell whether or not someone was flirting with your husband and not jump to ridiculous conclusions
