Almost 2 weeks ago now I got married! Yesterday we got back from the honeymoon to the Gold Coast (which is a big touristy area, there are 4 theme parks there along with a whole lot of other tourist traps). Here are some sightings from the trip:
*In one of the parks, there was this EW who kept insisting she got the wrong change. "There's meant to be another $2!" she kept repeating as she used one hand to rummage around in her bag. While the CSR was on the phone waiting for a supervisor, the EW found the missing $2... in her other hand!
*We were relaxing in the pool at the hotel when a bunch of yobbos appeared and started running around, jumping in the water, trying to take other people's towels, etc. It wasn't long before they got kicked out. When it was discovered they weren't even guests at the hotel, they said they thought it was a free public pool. The security guys told them to "f*** off to the beach". For a second I thought we'd get to see a fight but the yobbos decided to go and write giant swear words in the beach sand instead (I saw them from my room's balcony).
*At Movie World they have people dressed as various characters and celebrities who wander around a particular area and let you take photos with them. We caught the Marilyn Munroe look-alike just as she was about to finish her shift, she very graciously posed for photos and then headed off towards the staff only areas. Suddenly there was a cry of "OI!" and some EWs sprinted half the length of Main Street to get their photos taken. And then complained about "Marylin" making them run.
*Everywhere we went there were flocks of tourists gawking at the attractions instead of looking where they were going, and then blaming the people and inanimate objects they bumped into.
And a couple of amusing ones from Wet 'n' Wild (Australia's biggest water park)
-a guy with a huge afro was in the wave pool, trying desparately to stop his hair getting wet. Eventually he gave up.
-a guy with tan lines where he usually wears a shirt got sunburned. Tanned arms, legs and face, and bright red torso.
