Back to the people waiting til the belt stops before they put their stuff down:

Sometimes I'll stop the belt, then as soon as they put their stuff down, I'll start it again. They'll grab their stuff, and I'll stop the belt. Lather, rinse, repeat. I did this for a while with this one customer.

I won, BTW. They finally got the clue and left their stuff on the belt.
