    Parent Vs Manager

I went to the movies today to see Monsters Vs Aliens (very good film, see it in 3D). The theatre I went to see it in was showing it in both 2D and 3D. The 3D showing was a few pounds more expensive than the 2D, seeing as the customers had to pay for the glasses. I walked in, and this arguement was taking place. It involved a parent, and the manager of the theatre, and I assume it had been going on for a while...

Parent: I don't care if it's 3D, I am NOT paying extra to watch it!
Manager: Then I guess you will just have to go to the later 2D showing sir.
Parent: No! We are going to this screening!
Manager: Only if you pay the extra...
    Parent: No!
Manager: Then you are either going to watch it in 2D, or not at all. Good day.

    The manager walked away.

The parent took his disappointed looking children and walked out. The extra charge for the 3D was worth it in my opinion. It was amazing!

    Parent Vs 3D

A couple of rows in front of me, a lady was sitting with her young children. Every time something decent happened in 3D, the mother would scream.

    Mother: WOOOOAAAAAHHH!

    Mother: OH GOD!

    Mother: AHHHHHH!!

    Mother: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    Mother: WOOOOOOOOWWWWW!!

    Her children were completely unphased.

    Parent Vs Spiderman

I went to a DVD store near the theatre. A father was in there with his son. He walked up to an employee.

Father: Excuse me, do you have Spiderman in stock?
Employee: Yes we do. If you would just like to follow me...

He took him to where the DVD was.

    Employee: There you go.
Father: Oooooooooo, what's this film here?
    Employee: That's Spiderman 2 sir.
Father: What's the difference between Spiderman and Spiderman 2?
Employee: Uhhhh....well, Spiderman 2 is the sequel. It takes place after Spiderman.
Father: Oh...I thought it might have been 2 movies in one or something....
    Employee: No, I'm afraid not.
Father: What about this one? Spiderman 3?? Is that 3 movies in one???
    Employee: No....
Father: What about this? Spiderman Trilogy??? What's the difference between that, Spiderman, Spiderman 2 and Spiderman 3???
    Employee: It's...three movies in one....
    Father: I'll take it!

I have no idea if I paid extra for the 3D version. I just knew it as available in 3D, and dammit, I was seeing it in 3D!

SOOOOO worth it! I had a blast.

    My date and I were surrounded by kids, too. It was pretty cute during the previews when some of the kids were AMAZED by the magic of 3D. They were all really well-behaved during the movie, too. I just had to watch my language. ^^;;

I took my youngest son to see it and we had to pay an extra 2.00 a dollar each for the glasses. And it was well worth it, I had taken my oldest son to Spy Kids 3D when it came out and the glasses were the cardboard, 1 red lens, 1 blue lens, your lucky if they make it to the end of the film. But the new ones were like regular sunglasses with black lenses and I think they were better, not only better made but made the 3D look better. What I did think was cheap was the theater had boxes outside each 3D screening where you could donate your glasses back to them. Ummm, I paid for them I'm keeping them.

I realize I'm in the minority on this, but I'm not a fan of 3D. It forces me to refocus my eyes frequently, and so I always come out of the theater with eye strain. I admit that it does look cool in those moments it works for me, but it's just not worth it to pay extra for a headache.

        As for...

I had that problem with the afore-mentioned cheap cardboard glasses. The new ones are so much better, I never had to refocus.

This is simply amazing. How can someone born and raised on this planet not understand the concept of a movie sequel?

The sad part is, he's a father. That means he's reproduced at least once in his life, maybe even more.

You know if the guy had gone to the 3D showing without paying extra for the glasses, he would've cussed up a bitchstorm because "the movie was all out of focus"!

I hate 3D movies with a passion. The fact my left eye is completely useless due to an optical nerve birth defect may have a lot to do with that.

The new 3D tech and glasses drastically reduce the headache factor. That said, a lot of 3D is still very gimmicky--the only one that I've really liked recently was Coraline--fantastic film to begin with, and the 3D was primarily used to give a feeling of space that the characters moved in, rather than things always jumping out at you.

I look forward to 3D tech improving more, and ditching the gimmick aspect....says the girl who carries her cardboard 3D glasses in her purse at all times. What?? You never know when new analglyphs from Mars will be posted!

There was only, like, 1 instance of Gimmick in Monsters vs Aliens.

                      Hee... paddleball. ^^

That proves it. 3D movies work better if you're drunk/stoned.

Personally... I think I prefer 2D. I saw Coraline in 3D becuase it was the only option available and... I kept seeing double, had a hard time focusing. still a good movie tho

I had a similar condition at birth. I had surgery to repair the damage, but it left me with drastically reduced vision in my left eye (if I lost my right eye I would be legally blind) and an inability to see ANYTHING in 3D. Movies, TV shows, those darned Magic Eye things, I can't see any of it.

Me too, born with a cataract in my left eye. I tried again during the superbowl this year...but all I got was fuzzy blue-looking vision. At least I never have to debate about "upgrading" from 2D to 3D.
