Ah, the DMV. Here in PA, you can get most things done at your local AAA office. Still, that's not without its problems...
Before I could bring the MG home last year, one thing I wanted to get taken care of, was the title change. The registration and title are still under my father's name. Insurance is in my name. Since it's no longer his vehicle, we were going to get that swapped. I did the usual photograph-all-sides, and took them over to AAA. Imagine my surprise when they said they couldn't do it.
Why? There was a small sticker in the rear window, an AAA sticker on the bumper, and some rusty patches on the front bumper. That's right, they were denying the change because the car wasn't "perfect."
My response? Are you fucking kidding me? It's 40 years old! There are going to be things wrong with a car of that age, especially when you consider that some things just *aren't* available!
So now, the car runs around with my father's name still on the title and registration. Odd that Pennsylvania would be *that* anal about it...when they didn't give us this crap when he bought the car in 1980! All they did was just change the title from my uncle's name to dad's, and that was it. Oh, and the car was in much worse shape then. What the hell?
