  • leave the cashier alone

So me and the hubby stopped at the gas station this morning to get our caffeine fix.(yeah 32oz polar pop for .69). We were standing at the register and there was this business man in front of us(its always a bsiness man with me).Anyways the cashier/manager was pissed, she had a awful look on her face. Well this guy would not leave her alone.

    Business jackass_BJ
    Cashier-poor cashier
    Me-polar pop groupie

    BJ-Well whats wrong
Cashier-Nothing it will be 4.25 please
Bj-well you have such an awful look on your face
    Cashier-Sir I'm fine,it will be 4.25 please
Bj-No really you look so mad whats wrong
Cashier-Sir I worked here until 7Pm last night and I had to be back this morning at 5 am.Now it will be 4.25 please
BJ- Thats too sad,He went on and on for like 5 or more mins.

And this whole time he wasn't looking for his wallet. So after 5 or more mins he FINALLY started looking for his wallet and OF course he couldn't find it. This jackass finally paid and then he started on the cashier again and I(being a smartass) had enough.I nudged myself inbetween him and the counter.

Me--excuse me sir I'm now late for work please move
    BJ

The cashier just gave me a slight laugh and grin mixed with a thank you.We paid and left.I swear why do people feel liek they need to badger the cashier. We are not your friend pay and leave us alone. We would be fired if we did this crap to customers.

And if we give an honest answer that can get us in trouble, too. Why do people even ask me how I am? Why do they care? They don't know me.

      I ask every time.

...And I care every time, too.

I ask. I want to be a pleasant customer and be one of the customers that makes a day bearable.

I ask as a standard greeting.

I also have a standard reply: "not too bad."

Some of us do care, especially if a fellow wage slave looks down. Of course most of us know when to leave it alone and drop it too.

I often get "cheer up, it'll never happen" because apparently I always look grumpy. Where my grandparents come from (eastern Europe), the people who give the "cheer up" line look psychopathically happy. (sure, I look in pain in my avatar but that's because I'm getting beaten up by a tree)

Whenever someone says "Cheer up, it could be worse," sure enough, it gets worse.

going through my old blog, just happened to come across one of my bad mood days when i just wanted to be left alone & people I barely liked were asking me if I was ok.

                      What I said: I'm fine
What I wanted to say: The only thing wrong is you talking to me. Now go away.

... sometimes you just wish you could say it... however in reality it would just make them talk at you more.

I've actually made friends with people just by being nice to them at the register (one of them is now one of my best friends). Sure, some people think it's creepy or ...rude?...that you're being pleasant and asking how they are, but a lot of people actually appreciate it.

                        Don't give up.

People ask me just to verify that they finally have a human on the line and not a computer. I think.

I've got a stock reply of "Not too bad, what can I do for you today?"

Quick, answers their question, and gets them to think "hey, I have to get the hell off this guy's line soon, i should tell them what's going on"
