It's some weird gene that controls the eyebrow thing, like the tongue thing. There is also a weird one where asparagus makes your pee smell funny, but not everyone can smell it.

OOOOH and on the topic of genes making us do fun things.... what about those of us who can smell cyanide? Reason I just can't enjoy almonds.

Is that sort of like how a perfume can smell incredibly attractive on one person, and a garbage dump on another?

Genes also control how raspberries taste. For some people, including my wife, that gene makes raspberries taste like soap.

hm, genetically I can curl my tongue, lift an eyebrow, pee asparagussy, and both cilantro and raspberries taste like soap. Cant smell cyanide though=(

And emeraude smells fantastic on my mom, and like elephant pee on me - very acrid, musty and ammonia-y.

Anybody else think that juniper smells like cat pee?

No, it smells like Juniper is supposed to smell, but it does make my nose burn like I just sniffed bleach.

And I don't think being able to smell the asparagus in urine is the same as perfume smelling different on different people. Perfumes smell different because each person has there own chemical make up. For example: citrussy scents don't smell good on me because my sweat already has an acidic scent to it.

Not being able to smell asparagus pee is simply like your dad not noticing that your mom got a haircut. (That always happened at my house, although dad would notice if I changed my hair and my mom wouldn't. *shrug*)
