At the food court on base last week, there were three kids, all over the age of five, sitting at different tables (different families) and screaming their lungs out in those short, screeching bursts, making echoes in the room.
You know the screeches I'm talking about. The ones that are like ICE PICKS to the skull.
It went on for about twenty minutes (possibly longer - I bailed as soon as we were done eating).
So, my question: why do they do this, and why do the parents ignore it? I've mentioned before that I worked in daycare for about five years; I taught hundreds of pre-school and school-age kids (including special-needs children with autism), and -never- had this screeching thing happen.
