You had to call around to find someplace that carries Pride and Prejudice? I thought everyplace had that book

That housekeeper needs to be hit by a bus. Or a house. Or a stampede of rabid SOLDIER ANTS!
a bus FULL of rabid rampaging soldier ants!
Common sense... So rare it's a goddamn superpower.

her dumbass level of care is usually called "elder abuse"
      sigh

I'm part of a household of three. Two of us are disabled, enough that we should be getting respite care periodically to give our third member a break from our needs.

But we don't dare. Because that level of care - or worse - is typical.

One time, for example, my disabled partner was at a respite centre, and another patient came up to her and rubbed his erect crotch on her butt!

And the response of the carers? "Oh, that's just M. He does that. Just tell him to stop."

Yes, people like M need care too. But that doesn't mean that other patients should be sexually molested! And what if my partner was a recovering rape victim? She'd have been re-traumatised!

Worse, this is a centre for mental health patients - in other words, it probably has recovering rape victims. (Post-traumatic stress disorder.)

If she'd been warned, or if her complaint had been handled appropriately and taken seriously, we might have considered using them again.

But. Not now. Not unless the centre has changed their policies on patient-to-patient abuse.
      Seshat's self-help guide:
      1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
      2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
      3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
      4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

That woman needs to be fired. Now. And never allowed to work in any type of care facility or with animals, small children, or bacteria. How the ^%$$^%RH??!!? did she get that job anyway?? Roommate of a friend of a relative's pizza delivery guy I suppose.

Your mom needs to go above the housekeepers boss. Her behavior is fuckin unacceptable. People deserve to die(and live) in dignity and comfort. Not in fear of people throwing out their things (basically stealing) and talking about them.
I second this. Mom's boss isn't doing his job. Both housekeeper and boss need to be disciplined.

Id suggest going to your local senior services type agency that your state has. If you feel that the staff is neglectful and/or abusive (as I do) then they will investigate the allegations. at the very least you can put the fear of god (state) into them.
And, I'm not trying to be mean, but if you see abuse, and your not reporting it, you are only enabling the house keeper to do stuff like that again.
I'm a caregiver in an alzhiemers care ward, and we are told from day one that if we see abuse and dont report it, then we are just as bad as the person actively abusing the residents, and will be fired along with the abuser.
Please report her. Seriously, I'm shaking right now, im so pissed. nothing will make me angrier faster than elderly people not getting the care and respect they deserve.
Things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do. I would gladly hit the road, get up and go if I knew, that someday it would bring me back to you.

My mother (who works for the county health department...as a supervisor), actually got someone fired at Grandma's nursing home. Keep in mind that my mother is of the mind that if you mess with her family...heads will roll.

Grandma doesn't get around very well, and usually has a walker or her wheelchair. She can walk, but not very well. She'd already fallen in her house, and again in her apartment. Then she fell in the nursing home. After that, she always had to have someone with her. One of the residence staff was supposed to help her--either getting her dressed, taking her to the bathroom, etc.

Well, one afternoon, this person was there, and Grandma had decided that she'd walk across the apartment to the bathroom. Mid-way, she fell. Why was she alone? Well, the person watching her...was too busy watching TV, and hadn't noticed that she'd moved

Needless to say, my mother was furious. In fact, (to quote my father) "she hit the fucking ceiling!" Did I mention that my mother works for the health department...and has some serious connections? She demanded the girl get fired, or she'd complain to the health department, and possibly get the residence's license revoked.

That girl not only got fired, but now has difficulty in getting a job in the health field. Sorry, but I can't say I have any sympathy for her.

A very good friend holds a rather high position at the state DHS. We have "caused" a few surprise inspections of some facilities in the area that various family members have had to use. Heads did roll, and conditions improved immensely. I love having connections! Of course I would never use my connections frivolously!
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Connections are teh awesum But, my mother doesn't use them very often. But, when she was looking at homes for Grandma, she did tell the directors not to bullshit her, because of said connections
