You know, I used to make the banzai run from Norfolk to my parents in rochester bypassing the whole DC area by nipping up the eastern shore, much nicer drive and a lot less headache-y Bay Bridge-tunnel and up rt 50 [i think] to the jersey delaware border and a hop skip and jump through jersey past binghampon and the rest of the way on rt 17 to rochester area.Quoth Catwoman2965 View PostI know that area well, albeit just from driving through! My mom lives in the Hampton Roads, VA area, and I'm in NJ, so i make the hellacious 400+ mile drive 5-6 times a year. Sometimes I'll get off 95 in Quantico, as they have a good variety of places to eat, gas, etc. and I refuse to stop anywhere near DC as the traffic, etc. are horrible. I go through PA/MD, and more often than not, will stop in the Gettysburg/Frederick, MD area, then I don't need to until I'm south of Fredericksburg....the one exit I like is Thornburg; I can get gas as the Exxon there, make a pit stop, get coffe and whatever else I want, and hop back on teh road in a matter of minutes.
You might check into that ... expecially in crab cake season )EVE Online: 99% of the time you sit around waiting for something to happen, but that 1% of action is what hooks people like crack, you don't get interviewed by the BBC for a WoW raid.

I know that way, one of my best friends lives in VA Beach, but is from upstate NY -she goes that way, but my mom is actually north of Newport News, and I don't do tunnels or bridges, esp THAT one....i take 78 to 81 to 83,581, etc. around Harrisburg, then hit 15 through PA/MD, then 270 to 495/95 in N. VA and head from there...
plus i have a cousin in MD, so I sometimes stay with her, about 4.5 hours, and then head down to my mom's, which I can make in about 3...breaks up the trip a little bit...and I'm always welcome, which is nice.
