Actually, it's not hard to conceptualize. Remember, books are bendable. Thus, if you try and shove one in, it'll bend to the point where some of it will be sticking past the rest, either because pages buckle, or through angular geometry. Thus, some of the pages go in, but way more than the 5 page limit. Additionally, since the pages are bound, the shredder now has to try and pull the rest through.Quoth mattm04 View PostHow do you even fit a book in in the first place.

Another thing you shouldn't try to shred is plastic envelopes that some companies use to send mail order stuff. Kind of like the wrappings on magazines you get in the mail, but thicker. (Found that out the hard way)Comment

Of course, they'll pretty much shred anything.
Where I work now, the boss' son blew up the office shredder by stuffing too many old receipts through at one time... Even after the boss told him to do only a few at a time. His excuse was he wanted to get it done faster because it was boring.
