  • woman hates me why? And also hates me for being served first

    nasty bitch = nb
    = me
    Krogar attendant = KA

I went to Krogers Mon. around 9 am. The store is pretty dead. I got about 10 items and go to self check-out, where there are 4 stands, each with a number above it. I see the attendant, and no one else is checking out.

I start scanning my stuff and I see a woman in one of those scooters the store provides for the invalid. She looks at me, looks up at the number above me. The way she looked at me, I thought I had accidently gone to a handicap stand, and I looked up to double check. Anyway, she scoots sway. At that time I had a hard time scanning a cake. I don't see the attendant and I don't ring for one.

I see a manager pass by and point to one of the self check out stands. Then I see the attendant and I get her attention.

    me: hi, this won't scan.
ka: ok *tries* huh *tries with the scanning gun she carries around*.

nb had scooted to a stand and stares at us. Then she starts to look angry.

nb: Excuse me, arn't you suppose to help me?!
me: Ma'm I was here first, she is helping me.
nb: the manager told her to help me.
me: well the manager didn't know that I called the attendant before you came here.

note: I did not call the attendant, but I was just saying that to shut her up.

ka: the tag the bakery put on doesn't work, I have to make a new tag.

So ka makes a new tag, she isn't daddling. Meanwhile nb is sending us nasty looks. Now before she said anything, while the attendant was struggling with the tag that wouldn't work, I was going to go to the nb and offer to ring her stuff. Of course, with her mean looks, I figure any help I offer will be not only be rebuffed but I will suffer verbal abuse from her.

Finally, my cake is scanned. I also had coupons and also know that the attendant will have to scan my coupons but I figured nasty bitch will throw a fit. Anyway, the attendant scans her 2 items (that are in a basket in front of the scooter-it would be hard for her to reach inside the basket while she sits on the scooter) and takes her money to put in the machine. NB is done, and the attendant scans my coupons, I pay and I leave.

I go to the parking lot. I see nb is not parked in a handicap space. Which means nothing, since my mom has a hard time walking and didn't have a handicap tag until recently. The woman leaves the scooter next to her car in a parking space (eh, I didn't expect her to walk from the store) and she walks to the back of her car with no problem, and walks to the driver side with no problem.

So I'm thinking that she might have problems walking a whole store but none walking a few steps. So she could have gotten off her fat ass, scan her two items, paid, and scootered out.

Yes, I know there are people who are really weak and need help, and just seeing her walking a little by her car and not see that she is in problem doesn't mean she isn't an invalid . Also, that just because she doesn't park in a handicap space she isn't an invalid.

I still think she was being a bitch, not wanting to scan her own items and being nasty like she is being abused because other people are being helped before her even though she went to get help (even though the manager said she was going to be helped)

People are perfectly capable of being both handicapped and nice. Just because she needed (or wanted) help does not mean she gets to be a bitch about it.

My aunt has a number of severe disabilities (well-managed narcolepsy, morbidly obese due to glandular problems, bad joints and back unrelated to, but made worse by the obesity, etc). She has a handicap placard, and for a while would use the scooters in the store because her cane wasn't enough to help her with that amount of walking. But she would *never* act like that. She might say "excuse me, I only have a couple of items, do you mind if she helps me first," but she would never be that snotty.

But then, my aunt was taught good manners as a child.

      QFT~!

That lady may or may not be handicapped, but there's no need for her to be so pushy. I also fail to see how her having to wait her turn will compound her handicap?

The only saving grace is that the woman was a fake and deserved what happened. Although at the time you didn't know she was faking when in the store. It was pretty sucky of you to say she's helping you when in fact the KA was sent over to her first. Yes you were at the self checkout first but you weren't first when it came to who the KA was to initially help. It would've been best not to say anything to the woman seeing as you were getting helped before her. If you had of called the attendant first you'd be justified in what you said

people are perfectly capable of being able-boddies and nice. But it's just a hard concept for a bunch of people

NB scootered away and the KA showed up. I asked for help and the KA started to help me. NB showed up and scootered to a stand.

So I didn't know KA was sent to help this woman, considering that NB went away.

The only reason I told the NB that I called the KA first was to shut her up. I get sick and tired of people spending their whole time bitching about how they arn't being helped, how people are doing bad things to them, how service is no good. I was not trying to teach her a lesson or patience. It just seemed it was best to nip her rant in the bud.

What was I suppose to do? Woman shows up, says "I called for help" and since I didn't I should say, "Oh, I'm sorry ma'm, let the KA go ahead and help you"? Since the KA was already helping me, why stop?

In other words, I didn't tell her I was first to be right, I told her I was first because I wanted her to stop ranting. Granted, she could keep on going on another tangent.

Just because someone is handicapped doesn't always mean that they are nicer than an able bodied person.

I have been nearly ran over by people in scooters before.....I didn't even think scooters were supposed to be that fast....

And my poor little brother who works at K-Mart constantly has to go out into the parking lot to fetch scooters that have been taken outside and ditched in piles of snow or all the way over by the Arby's across the way. Those scooters are not supposed to leave the store...

I'm guessing she wasn't supposed to take the scooter out to her car in the first place. Even if she couldn't walk around the store for an extended period, she had to have walked in from her car to get the scooter in the first place. She can leave the scooter and walk back out. I never dealt with scooters; whenever I took my grandmother to the grocery store she would just push the cart and use it to help her walk (normally she used a cane, and later a walker; by the time she would have needed a scooter or wheelchair, she was in the nursing home and wouldn't have been going shopping at all).

              On another note...

              so...can I have a piece of cake?
