I was at the bus stop today, minding my own business when an old lady comes up and asks me if the bus had just left, it had and I told her so but she took that politenss to be an invitation to talk to me till the next bus came.
She told me all about her illnesses, how she was in a wheelchair for six months but now she can walk again she never wants to sit down etc.
Not bad stories I guess, but I was totally uninterested, I was on my way to work at an old folks home where I was about to hear a dozen such stories, I just wanted to ride the bus in peace!!
What I did was get as far enough away from her as possible on the bus and then I had some time to myself before I started work. Nice
The same thing happens if I go to work early and the people who have been out all night drinking decide to make me their chat partner... FUCK OFF!! I am not in the mood!!

This reminds me of an incident that happened to me and my husband in a grocery store last year. We were in the canned goods section looking for soup or something, when this old lady just walks up to us at random and starts talking about her life. Her and her family were from Russia or somewhere near there and had lived through WWII and how hard it was during the war, they had nothing to eat but dirt and grass some days. And people today complain about food all the time, they have nothing to complain about. Husband and I were too shocked and polite to tell her to bugger off. She really was a nice lady, but wow, she took up probably 15 or 20 minutes of our time. We just smiled politely and nodded and agreed with her and she was so happy when she walked away that she had someone to talk to that I didn't have the heart to feel bad or angry at her about it, even though I was kinda annoyed through the whole conversation.
