  • Hey, thanks for ruining our day!

So, the boyfriend and I had been planning for about a month to go to an outdoor park for activities like bumper boats and zip lines. We both took the same day off and my boyfriend was really excited to take me there; we don't often have the same days off.

We checked the website several times to ensure that the summer hours were still in effect. I would assume summer hours would last until Labor Day (a week & a half away). This is what their hours of operation show (I removed the area names):

We figured the website was straight-forward enough and so didn't see any reason to call and confirm.

We get there and, of course, the place is dark and empty. At first we HOPED that maybe it was because some schools were already in-session and there was that threat of rain today. And we did see a few other cars parking around us.

So we go to the ticket office and are told "Oh, last week was our last week!" in a bright and cheery manner. Well, we told the lady, your website says you're still open. "Oh, it does?" now said in an unbelieving tone. So myself and several other people who had arrived under the assumption the place was still open go into the office with her and show her exactly what their website says under 'hours of operations' First she tries to say "Oh, but it SAYS Sat & Sunday!" Yes, we point-out, but that is under the FALL schedule and you still have your summer schedule in bold, not to mention most people look at summer ending on labor day.

So basically the woman said they'd have to look into fixing it. No 'I'm sorry you took the day off and drove an hour out of your way do come here' or 'I'm sorry we never updated our website.' At least an APOLOGY would have been nice; they didn't even need to offer anything. I was pretty damn dissapointed, and so were the kids with the parents who had also taken the day off to come here!

I want to see if I can leave feedback on them, because it was just wrong and we were obviously not the only ones who thought the website was misleading. Would it have caused them grief to have included 'Summer schedule ends August - / Fall schedule begins August -'?????

wow! no dates!? just a vague "summer" and "fall" schedule? that is definatly their fault, and I can't believe that this is the first time this has happened to them. it would be so easy for them to put up the exact dates of their summer and fall.

I had a slightly similar experience when we went to the Antique Auto Museum in ME. The website said that admission was a certain price per age group (really cheap, but it's a little place). We get there, and it's a few bucks more per person. Not enough total to scare us off, but still. It's the principle of the thing.

When I mentioned it to the guy at the till, he was surprised, but did say he'd make sure it was corrected (and checking now, it is), and apologized for the mistake. So either he was one of the owners, or was close enough to them to bug them about the site.
Any day you're looking down at the dirt instead of up at the dirt is a good day.
