  • short timmies sighting

so I work nightshift at the hospital and (praise sweet zombie jesus) the tim hortons we have here opens up about 10 minutes before my shift ends. so I always grab a coffee on my way home.

Now the girls working there know me fairly well by now and it's kinda nice that 9 times outta 10 they have my coffee all ready for me by the time I get to the cash so I just have to pay and i'm outta there on my way home.

One morning I get there and there's a HUGE line. (probably 20 people. which is enough at 645am in the hospital usually there's 5 or 6 at this time).

I notice there's only one girl doing EVERYTHING behind the counter (making the coffee, turning the toasters on, getting donuts put out etc. etc.).

woman in front of me who i'm pretty sure is a doctor (regardless she's staff of somekind). comments to me that this girls going SO slow.

so i reply that there's usually 3 of them not one and htis poor girls having to do teh work of 3 people. not her fault that thigns are backed up.

but you wouldn't beleive the number of mutterings i heard about 'slow service' etc.

frig people have some common sense. 1 person cannot WORK as fast as 3 normally can.

also, the hospitals at fault for this kind of (people called in sick taht day and/or didn't show up so can't help that) but id idn't realize till i chatted with this girl for a minute. they have ONE person come in at 5am who is supposed to start setting up/cooking food in the actual cafeteria AND then go downstairs to our main floor and start opening tim hortons up. so it's no wonder that the timmies people are sometimes late or slow getting to their tasks. it's not their only jobs.

Bonus points if complaining-possible-doctor woman works in emergency, extra double-bonus points if she was also on shift at the time she was complaining about slow service.

Disclaimer: No offence intened to those of you who do work in emergency, you guys rock. I know damned well that I have to wait 4 hours to get my broken wrist/ankle/leg/whichever (oh the injury stories I have) set and cast because I did something stupid on a long weekend in a tourist hotspot is not because you're slow, inefficient, or out getting coffee, it's because you're busy saving lives, and a couple hours wont make a difference to my relatively minor injury.

nah i know all the ER docs. since i work nightshifts i tend to know the ER and ICU staff better than those in my own department lol.

MOST the ER docs are pretty good people. one or two i despise and hate working with (and it's not just me the nurses dislike them too :P).

I think this lady was a doc on one of the floors just looking after patients in a certain section etc.

but still the timmies girl was looking pretty frazzled because she was doing her best to keep the line moving while putting coffee on etc.

didn't help that people who can cleary see that she's the only staff and there's a huge line were ordering like... 2 bagels, toasted, 6 donuts, etc. etc.

if it's that busy keep it to coffee people! at least until extra help arrives.
