My manager has been talking to an independent distributor of a greeting card service. It's a nice little online business that sends professional cards to people. You get either pick the cards out from a huge database of greeting cards or make your own. It's pretty nifty and I do think we'll be doing it. We just won't be going through the independent distributor.
As part of my job I'm taking over all of the ads we run and all other ways we get our name out to the community. My manager asked me to call the distributor about some of the options we have. I call the guy and he was a total douchbag.
I told him that I my manager told me to call him and that I had a few questions about the service. Right off the bat he was all "Well why am I talking to you? V is the one who I've been dealing with. I don't understand why you're calling me and what you want. V should call me directly because whatever I tell you will just be third hand knowledge." (and yes these are exact quotes)
I'm a nice person but I don't take that shit kindly especially after I told you why I'm calling in my first sentence. Since I didn't have too many questions and I was really only calling because I was told to I went into *professional bitch mode as I like to call it and got off the phone with him real quick. About 10 minutes later as I'm comparing the options without his help he calls again and starts going on about things that are on the complete other spectrum than what I was originally asking about. So I once again went into professional bitch mode and got off the phone with him.
As I said before, I think we will be using the service but the Independent Distributor won't be seeing a cut of the money. I don't want mine or the business I work for's money going to someone who is a total douch to a customer.
*Professional Bitch Mode-being a curt and to the point a form of killing them with kindness since you never actually say what you want to verbally just with your tone.
