  • To UPS and FedEX....

    1) If I sign the sticker that says you can leave the package there, don't just stick another "we missed you - sign here!" sticker RIGHT NEXT to it!!

    2) Don't give us a bill for a package we did not send, then threaten us with legal action because we refuse to pay for stuff we didn't order, and then when we finally pay, don't NOT reimburse us after saying "whoops lol that was an accident! Sorry for the inconvenience!".

    3) Handle with care means exactly what it says on the tin...I highly doubt a game DVD was split in fourths when it left Best Buy.

    4) Don't tell me I can pick the package up after a certain time when the office I can pick it up on closes BEFORE that time on the sticker!!!

    5) Ring the doorbell. Don't just walk up, place a sticker on the door and then leave within a couple minutes...Don't you actually get more money if you DELIVER the package vs returning it to the sender because we didn't know it was even there?

    6) WHO EXPECTS PACKAGES AT 5 AM?!

Oh boy this hits close to home. Just last week I was waiting for a VERY important document to arrive and had checked its status online and it was "out for delivery" so I waited in my living room for the delivery, while watching TV. The way my house is situated, you can NOT drive up to my doorstep without me seeing you. Its physically impossible. About an hour later, I see the delivery truck. Lovely! I go to grab my coat and walk to the front door, when I open it, truck is driving AWAY! Note attached to my door "Sorry we missed you," with a claim tag I can take to the main office after 4pm to pick up in person. Driver never knocked. Never rang the doorbell, NOTHING, just attached the note to my door and took off as fast as he could.

I immediately called the head office and complained and was told there must be some "miscommunication" because they "ALWAYS" knock/ring the doorbell - so I either must not have heard him knock (from 20 feet away?) or my doorbell wasn't working (it works - I tested it just to make sure.) I guess they simply refuse to believe that their drivers are dickheads.

Ive had the same thing happen. I go to leave the house for the day and find a "We missed you!" sticker on the door, with no bell or knock having been heard.

We called once after one episode, and we at least were apologized to and told it wouldnt happened again. It did, but at least they entertained the notion that maybe the driver wasnt knocking.

Either that or theyll knock on the door and when we open it, look surprised that someone is home and then have to walk back to the truck to get our package.

Heck I had one yesterday where UPS drives up, cuts off my mail truck to park. Okay little irked but I had a package for the house anyways. So I park and am walking right up behind the guy by about five steps or so. He sets the package agaisnt his hip, rings the doorbell, takes a "We missed you" sticker off a pad and then turns around to walk away with the package. (Main front door was open, storm door with big window was closed, could see the guy inside clearly.)

While he's trying to push me out of the way to get back to his truck, the guy opens the door. I would defintly say less then a minuet had passed. So I made a "nice" little comment, "See this is why I get paid more, I wait for them to answer before walking away."

UPS driver gave me a sour look, told me to shove off after collecting his signature and then slammed his door shut after stomping his feet.

Oh, I hate all of that! Countless time's I've heard the doorbell ring, run the 15 feet to the door and have seen the truck speeding-off. I can't believe they got the thing in drive that fast! I guess they just want to get done as quickly as possible and get home; I wonder if they get paid for the number of stops, not the number of deliveries.

i wish I could clone my UPS guy for all of you ... he knows I'm a gimp, and lets me actually get to the door ... and if it is heavy he will actually bring stuff into the house for me.

We do a fair amount of mail order, at least 1 or 2 items a month - we have a thing for etsy and used books =)

It's annoying - but I've almost come to expect similar from just about any package delivery company.

I was so pleased last week to get a package (unimportant but cheering) while I was home sick with the flu.

The doorbell rang, I woke up. Still downstairs and in bed. I "knew" I wouldn't get it so I just turned over to go back to sleep.

The doorbell went again - I started to worry it might be my mother. I'm currently staying at her house and I worried she might be locked out (as I'd heard her leave a little earlier).

So I staggered out of bed (flu!), looked around for some trousers, spent about half a minute trying to hop into them and nearly falling over, staggered up the stairs. The guy was still standing there with my package, and didn't even seem to mind that it took me another minute to unlock the door (or that I looked like some sort of swamp creature that had just dragged itself out of the swamp).

When I happily commented on how long he'd waited he just said he preferred not to take parcels back.

Nice man - I got ghost stories which made me feel better. Sadly I was too ill to notice who he worked for, I don't think Amazon are currently using Royal Mail so

I had a sucky UPS driver for awhile. One house down from my house there is a left turn, then a couple more houses down a dead end. So what this UPS driver had to do when he delivered to one of the houses after the turn was back out of the dead end to make the turn or turn around to leave the neighborhood. I guess backing up was to difficult for him because he started leaving these peoples packages at my house. One time I caught him and made him come take the packages back, you should have seen his face. It finally took a complaint to the head office to stop it.

I can't stand UPS where I live.. I've tried to complain about my driver, to be promised his manager would be calling me, and they never called, even after I'd complained several times.

Last time I was waiting for a package, I happened to be home sick, on the couch, 3 feet from my door. I live with two Rottweilers, if someone knocks, I know.

My UPS man won't knock, in fact he doesn't get out of his truck, instead, he sits in it and honks. Won't tag the door or anything.

I don't answer to ghetto doorbells, so I don't even look outside when someone is beeping. It's not like parking is an issue where I live, or that the neighborhood is unsafe, unless he's scared of the little old people who live on the next street over...

                  I miss my old driver.

I have had a bad experience with our UPS sub driver

                    http://www.customerssuck.com/board/s...ad.php?t=53907

Luckily I haven't seen him in a long time, and I really like our normal UPS driver. every other sub we got would make a comment about the sub we hated, usually hinting at how lazy he is. All the other UPS drivers and myself know that my stores placement of packages suck, but they also know there is nothing we can do about it. and since I help them so much, they all don't complain... except the one sub we all hate.

We have 2 rather loud dogs who love to bark at..well..pretty much any outside movement, or sounds.. To get to our front door, you basically have to go down a sidewalk next to our living room window,so unless the dogs are out back, they will see the UPS guy coming, and make a big racket to the the point they tear down the curtains. He's now gotten to the point he doesn't go to the front door, he stands at the end of the driveway/start of the sidewalk and tosses the packages at the front door, and runs..

I'm not exactly fond of DHL (fka Airborne). Those idiots were constantly screwing up our deliveries. But, the best came right before they quit shipping domestic (US) packages. Somehow, they managed to screw up their billing system. We were getting billed for things that weren't even ours, and could prove it. Didn't stop them from threatening to "send us to collections or legal action" well over a year after the crap was supposedly shipped. At least *our* legal department had the balls to tell them to "get bent," and never did pay those invoices

UPS drivers I believe at least get payed as an 8 hour day, even if they are out for 12 or for 4. So the less time they wait around the better it is for them

I've had a similar situation with the USPS here for over two years -- they INSIST that all deliveries of packages that don't fit in the box are either handed to us or brought back to the PO with a note left -- has never happened. We've had many, many packs just left on the stoop or otherwise in plain view, no knock, no bell, no nothing, even after repeated requests by phone, in person, by mail...I just gave up after awhile. The only time we got one handed to us was when I was at the door (checking for mail) and the USPS truck pulled up into my driveway because the box was heavy. I helped them get it out of the truck.

Ours are pretty bad too. They do the same as the USPS.

Note that, for both, when I AM expecting packages too big for the mailbox, I flip over an empty trash can (or other suitable object), place a milk crate on it with a big cardboard sign in it that says PACKAGES IN HERE PLEASE, and set it NEXT TO the door/mailbox. That's worked once. Ever. I've even had packages set on the ground next to it. It's even worse when it's electronics and it's raining when they come...(the crate is under an overhang that's protected from wind, but that doesn't help if the package is on the wet ground)

I don't answer to ghetto doorbells, so I don't even look outside when someone is beeping.
Oh hell no I won't answer a honk from anybody unless we've mutually agreed that I'll be waiting for them downstairs and they need to honk for me to come out -- even that's just friends & family.

I must be lucky because I've never had a problem with UPS or FedEx where I live. When Mr Jedi and I were still getting wedding gifts through UPS, our driver would leave them next to our porch behind our bushes so that someone else wouldn't make off with them (there was also an overhang, so packages were protected from the weather). He even told us what he was doing and why when we ran into each other once. I loved that driver.
