Damn...that sounds like what used to go on at the grocery store in one of the more "interesting" parts of town. That place had so much theft, and because the cops (or even the kids' parents!) wouldn't do anything...it eventually closed. The owners simply got tired of losing money, and closed the store. A big "fuck you all" to the neighborhood

Sounds to me like they should start getting the customers to pay before handing over the food. Every carry-out place I know of will make you pay before they even start cooking your order.Quoth customersruinmylife View PostMe: Why didn't she call the police?
Cashier: It happens quite a lot, and the police never do anything. Plus she loves yelling at people.

Nice pwnage!
From what I know, I think that may be why my local fish and chip shop started making you pay when you order.

She went their in her work uniform?!? Whatta idiot. I'd be tempted to go to her workplace and make very public "hints" to management about their employee's morals.

Awesome. Thank goodness it had a happy ending and they were caught. Too many times these people get away with it. At least they had to pay.

Stop That Car!!
So my Dad and I are off to the Fish and Chip shop to get my family some dinner. The chippie we frequent at is unbelieveably nice. All the fish is 100% fresh, the staff are great and it is tasty grub. I should also note that there is no inside area for this fish and chip shop, so you are served at a window, and it is right next to a car park
In front of me a family of five are being served in front of me. Mother, father, and three kids, aged between 5 and 10.
Father: I'll go get the car warmed up.
The father walked off and started the car. He then pulled it as close as he could to the window. The food was now all packaged up on the counter.
Mother: Start taking the food to the car kids.
It all seemed pretty normal. The mother started handing the kids bags of food, and they headed to the cars. Everything was now in the car, except the mother.
Cashier: OK, I'll just add up your total...
The cashier turned her back on the mother to work on the register...and the mother bolted! She ran to the car as fast as her legs would carry her and jumped in the car. The manager spotted this and screamed.
Manager: Oh my God! JOSH! GET HER!
Josh was a very big guy. He flew out a side door, and in about a second, he was right in front of the car, blocking it from leaving the car park. The cashier, manager and another customer stood with looks of complete shock on our faces. The mother stepped out of the car, and put on the worst acting I have ever seen!
Mother: Oh! How silly of me! I forgot to pay didn't I? How much do I owe you?
Manager: Like hell you forgot to pay! You had it all worked out! I saw you run!
Mother: I didn't run.
Manager: You did! You waited until you thought no one was watching and you ran! You just tried to steal £30 worth of food!
Mother: So it's £30 I owe? *takes out money*
Manager: Yes! *snatches money* What a great example you set to your kids! Teaching them how to steal! God help them!
Mother: I....just...forgot...
Manager: Don't you EVER come back to my shop again. BITCH!
The mother started to walk away. The manager called after her.
Manager: I've noticed you are wearing *local stores* uniform. How about I send all of my family members in to shop lift £30's worth of stuff. Would you like that??
The family drove off. The manager let out a loud "Grrr!!" and went out the back. I had a chat with the cashier.
Me: Why didn't she call the police?
Cashier: It happens quite a lot, and the police never do anything. Plus she loves yelling at people.Tags: None
