Yeah, the Centurion card is black and invitation only. Has a high price tag and is genuinely for high spender who expect value with their cards (has a lot of perks and benefits). It's now made of titanium.

The Amex platinum card is the only platinum I would actually be mildly impressed by. and that is only because it is not like the V/MC platinums which any idiot can get (have one myself), but requires a pretty high income also (though not on the centurion level)

Nuts to platinum, I want an electrum card.

Just curious, but why would electrum be a bigger status symbol than platinum, which is a more valuable metal (electrum being an alloy of gold and silver)?

A side note: in a certain fantasy world with an economy based on gold coins, 1 platinum coin is worth 5 gold coins, and 1 gold coin is worth 2 electrum coins, so platinum is 10 times as valuable as electrum.

Platinum is so passe these days. Everyone knows the really cool people have black cards (or something like that).

I have two Platinum cards, but I don't think it makes me special. Well, maybe in the short bus sort of way it does.

I have never been impressed with money, status or a persons social class. I'm only impressed with intelligence and maybe a nice behind.

BlaqueKatt, I hear ya. I have been referred to as my husbands' trophy wife for the whole 18 years of our marriage, even my own father refers to me as such. It used to bug the holy hell out of me, but now I just laugh about it because:

1. Mr. Mis had been divorced for years when I met him.
2. Mr. Mis doesn't have money by any stretch of the imagination.
3. I don't think trophy wives are suppose to have children, are they?
4. I have put on some, not a lot, of weight, which a trophy wife is never suppose to do.
5. I have wrinkles, so shouldn't Mr. Mis have traded me in for someone younger by now?
6. Aren't trophy wives suppose to be perky and a people person? I am neither of those things.

I know if all my hair fell out along with my teeth, Mr. Mis would still stand by me and love me just as much.

Doesn't bother me much-we've been together for 6 years, married for 3-I was his support through college. His coworkers are just fond of ribbing him with "of all the guys that work here, why does the youngest have the damn trophy wife?" Most of them don't realize that Mr Katt is 10 years younger than I am and also my third husband......
