Well it happened. I guess I just can't escape the front desk.
I was staying at a hotel using my employee discount. I was at the computer in the lobby late at night and I heard "Excuse me! Excuse me!" I ignored it at first because I didn't think they were talking to me.
Then I heard it louder and the snapping of fingers "Hello! I'm wanting to check in!"
Seconds later the desk clerk emerged from the back. This happened all in the span of maybe one minute.
Apparently I am now a desk clerk 200 miles away from my original hotel! I looked the part too: white t-shirt, tethered blue jeans, slippers. I guess I just have that "I work in a hotel" look.

" But I don't have the heart to actually say it, so I just say "I think I saw it over there," and run the fsck away. When I am on break, I am an entirely different character. Leave me alone. I am one of you.
Its not the "I work in retail look", its the "I look like i know what im shopping for, so i MUST work there" look. Its the look of comprehension, of understanding. Of course, sometimes we have brain farts...but for the most part...
