  • Virgin Hamster Birth!

I bought a female 2-days ago from Superpetz to breed with my male. After getting them used to each-others' scents by switching bedding, I go to introduce them to each other...Only to find she already had babies! Apparently, I bought her pregnant (either that or my male is like Chuck Norris; he can get a woman pregnant just by LOOKING at her). This pet store has never been able to give me an answer to any question I've ever asked (if you can even find an employee who's not hiding in the back, or not too busy texting to talk to you), and couldn't even tell me if the hamsters were male or female (Other stores have locations that sell all male or all female). The employees even tried to discourage me from buying her, saying "You know dwarf hamsters are mean? They bite all the time!" Umm, not the greatest sales pitch I've ever heard. Maybe because you're chasing the animals around while wearing a giant flapping leather work glove on your hand that you previously used to handle the snakes?

Oh well, 5-hamsters for the price of 1; but I think this is my last time going to that pet store. I only went this time because nobody else had dwarf hamsters.

When my mother was a teacher, she'd always have a guinea pig a class pet. Well, one time we were due for a new fuzzy one, so we bought a "male."

Our "male" gave birth a few days later, lol. They were sooooooooo cute.

That pet store was shut down for dealin drugs.

Do the babies look anything like Richard Gere?

Only you would think of that.

My mom has purchased female guinea pigs from the local pet shop twice. Both times, they turned out to be pregnant.

Mom didn't really want to deal with the babies, but she did anyway. Guinea pig babies are so tiny when they come out.

When I was younger I caught a three foot snake with my brother that was in our backyard. We didn't know if it was a male or female, but it was a good looking snake, so we decided to keep it. We got a terrarium for it and put it in my room. Three days later, it laid twelve eggs, which we nurtured for three months until they hatched into twelve little baby snakes. They were awesome.

I bought 2 female guineas this summer. My brother then went out and bought 2 male ones...And then bothered me all summer about breeding them. Lol. One unfortunately ended up dying, and I never breed the other one. I wish I had! Guinea babes would have been adorable.

Why couldnt I have gotten preggo guineas to start with?

Were they garter snakes? Those are my favorite species,I used to see those all the time when I was younger.

When I was younger my best friend got two "female" gerbils. She had trouble separating the males from the females and wound of with something like four litters before she got it worked out. In the process of getting rid of some of the extra ones she donated two "female" gerbils to my class as class pets. I then acquired two of those as my own personal pets, but they were actually both girls.

Actually we looked her up online and she turned out to be a corn snake. They are constrictor snakes, so it was pretty cool to watch her eat. We fed her live mice and she would stalk them around the terrarium, then eat them whole. Nature is cool. :-P
