    The Sighting:

Family went out to a new Mexican Restaurant that opened near our house. It's a nice place. It's also a Saturday night, so we knew it was going to be busy and slow. However, the slowness was just ridiculous. The place was packed, and there were only 4 different servers we saw! 4! I seriously believe we could have "dined 'n dashed" and no one would have been the wiser. (Not that we would have, but it was slow, the 3 waiters/1 waitress were barely on the floor as it was).

    The Reading:

Got my new edition of Woman's Day in the mail. In the magazine, they have a section called "Right place, right time". It's about the right times to go to certain places/get stuff. (For example: Best time to get gas or clothes online or appliances, etc.).

One of the little best time topics is: Best time to go to the bathroom when you're at the movies. They recommend you check out the website: www.runpee.com. It lists current movies with time recommendations for running to the batroom without missing much.

That's not the problem I have (I actually like the idea of this website). What I have a problem with is this last line(emphasis mine):

    Quoth magazine article
If you forget to check ahead, you can check from your phone during the show - the site recently went mobile!
So my Woman's Day magazine is encouraging its readers to be SCs in the movie theaters just so their bladders can be more comfy.

Thats just silly. Thats what Depends are for......

As for the mexican restaurant, i had the exact opposite happen to me at one near our house. We were the ONLY ONES THERE!! And I couldnt get a waiters attention to save my life, lunch took foooooorrrreeevvveeeerrrrrrr.....Needless to say, tipping was less than spectacular for that one. I could see them all talking in the corner.

There are movie theatres in the US and Canada in which, should the SC be seen holding an activated cellphone, said phone might be confiscated in case it can act as a video camera and upload video footage to filesharing sites. Someone should tell Woman's Day that.
Why do they make Superglue but not Batglue?

That's exactly the policy at a theatre in NYC I was in last spring. They warned before the show that taking pictures and video was strictly forbidden. If anyone did this the show would stop, their device would be confiscated, and they would be physically escorted from the theatre. They said that if anyone had a cell phone out during the show, they would assume that it was being used to film or take pictures.

Really? I wish this was the policy of all theaters in the US! It would make the watching of movies just a little easier. *le sigh*

I can just imagine a SC testing that policy with an ancient cellphone such as the Nokia 252. It's an analog unit that's ONLY a phone - no text, no camera, no MP3 player, so it's not capable of filming the show.
Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.

Silly anyway. The best time to go to the bathroom is before the movie starts or after it ends. If you forget to go before it starts, or cannot go two hours between, then you probably have to go when you have to go anyway.

edit: except for movies with giant spiders in them, like Return of the King. I was actually upset that they'd moved that part over from The Two Towers; I'd been hoping to get it over with.

Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.

I think it's a great policy they have. You really don't know for sure what phones do and don't have the ability to take pics and film stuff. And it probably wouldn't be too hard for someone to disguise a camera as an old phone.

Ahhhh, the 252. One of those was actually my first cell phone. That would be funny to see.

You know, I think we have one floating around here. I swear, this family throws nothing out.
Any day you're looking down at the dirt instead of up at the dirt is a good day.

Yes, but when the Sundry Items Museum calls to have your things placed in it for posterior ... er ... posterity (), you'll be ready to hand stuff over!

If I was an actual letter writer to magazines, I'd do a letter to the editor about how some places will confiscate cell phones if they're out in the open during the movie.
