Sis and I were out at the local mall, when she decided to go to Macy's to try on one last thing. I had the baby with me and he was hungry, so I told her we'd meet her at food court. About 45 minutes later she arrives, and relates the following story:
She took her items into the dressing room to try on. While she was taking off her shoes to put on the pants, she noticed sudden sharp stabbing pains in her feet...
...from the tiny bits of broken glass littering the floor. Apparently those anti-theft devices become mini-shrapnel bombs if you pull at them too hard? Who knew?
So, uh, she has glass in her feet and she's bleeding. She hobbles out to the register where a couple of salesladies are gathered, to tell them what happened and ask for a band-aid and something to clean her feet with.
Blank stares.
Saleslady 1: I have a tissue.
Sis: Do you have a bandaid? Or a first aid kit?
Saleslady 2: We're not a nurse's station.
Sis:
Saleslady 2: ...maybe I have one in my purse.
Sis went back in, avoiding the broken glass as best she could (nobody had attempted to clean it up, and she said it looked like nobody had cleaned the dressing rooms all day judging by the piles of clothes everywhere). When she came out to pay,
Saleslady 1: You know, you should really be more careful.
is how I felt as she told me this story.
I SO wish I had been there. Sis works in an SC-heavy industry as well, and did not want to be that asshole customer, but I think they showed no concern whatsoever that a customer had injured herself in their store and therefore deserved less nice-ness than they got.
No first aid, no incident report, and no apology. I told her to call the general manager and tell him/her about what went down.
