  • Contact Lens Saga

A couple months ago, I made an appointment at an eyewear place near my new house to get a check-up and a re-fill of my contact lenses. It was a fine experience, everyone was super-friendly, and I liked the doctor. After the appointment I sat down and ordered my lenses, and was told it would take 5-9 business days and they would call when the lenses were in.

Well...three weeks go by, and I don't hear anything. So I give them a call from work one day, inquiring about the status of my contacts. The guy that I talked to said they weren't in, and he would call the manufacturer to see what was going on, and then get back to me. Okay.

Two days go by, and I don't hear back, so I call AGAIN. I speak to a different guy this time. He informs me that my contact lenses were only ordered two days ago So the first guy I talked to had realized that my order never actually got placed, but instead of telling me that, he made it seem like it was an issue on the manufacturer's end.

So, I wait about another week. Then I get a voicemail one morning saying that the lenses for my right eye are in, but not for the left eye. But, my trial pair is in, so I can picked that up at my earliest convenience. Now, my eyes have gotten a bit worse over the last couple of years, and my new prescription was stronger so I was eager to get the new ones in and stop straining my eyes. So even though it was snowing heavily, I clomped up to the shop, asked to pick up my trial pair, and was informed that it WASN'T in. Only the contacts for the right eye were in. I told them that someone had left me a message saying my trial pair was indeed in and for me to pick them up anytime. They told me I must have misunderstood the message. I figured that must have been it. I went back home, replayed the voicemail, and the guy CLEARLY SAID my trial pair was in and ready to be picked up.

So I wait about another 4-5 days and then get a call saying all of my lenses are in. I didn't actually believe it was true until I held the boxes in my hands LOL So all in all, it took over a month to receive my lenses that I was originally supposed to get in "5-9 business days." I'm not sure if I want to go back there now...even though they are located so close to my house

I would have a chat with the store manager and see what he says. Explain the situation and that you're in serious consideration of taking your business elsewhere after the exponentially bad service you received from his store. Heck, you might even get something sweet out of letting him know. Just don't expect to get it for the next 15 months.

That's pretty unacceptable... especially since contacts/eyeglasses are not something you should be without for long. They should at least own up to their mistake and tell you what is really going on!

Sounds like an internal problem with that company. You might want to give them another chance anyway. Sounds like a total mixup.
        Are your contacts ,right?
They might be close but I think there was a problem with them. Took way too long.
